The first season of the Sci-Fi period drama called Time After Time premiered on the ABC Channel with eight episodes on March 5th, 2017, but after just five episodes the show was cancelled mid-season due to low ratings. The TV series is based on the eponymous novel by Karl Alexander and the movie from 1979 and was adapted for television by Kevin Williamson, who also serves as executive producer together with Marcos Siega. Time After Time is produced by Outerbanks Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.
Travelling back to a dark London, at the time when Jack the Ripper was slaying women left and right, the incredible H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) is obsessed with time travel. When one of his friends (played by Revenge’s Josh Bowman), whom he believes to be the infamous killer, disappears in his time machine to another century, Wells finds himself thrown into a strange new time and foreign world – which conveniently ends up being modern time Manhattan – where he tries to find this serial killer, before he may strike again. Here, he befriends the young and beautiful Jane Walker (Genesis Rodriguez), who helps him along.
Imagine this – the infamous Jack the Ripper running the streets of modern day Manhattan! The idea is certainly not such a bad one, if you are into that sort of thing, that is. As for the TV series Time After Time – time is up. Despite a rather strong 7 out of 10 stars on IMDb and a not so bad 96% approval rating by Google Users and Rotten Tomatoes’ 67%, the ABC network simply cancelled the series mid-season after just five episodes due to dropping viewer numbers as they were falling below the 2 Million mark. As of now, Season 2 of Time After Time is not happening.
