ABC Will Release Season 1 of Shifting Gears on January 8, 2025

Tim Allen is returning to ABC. The network has ordered Shifting Gears – a new comedy starring the actor. On the network, Allen previously starred in sitcoms Home Improvement for eight seasons and in Last Man Standing for nine seasons (six on ABC, three on FOX).

Shifting Gears follows Matt (Allen), a stubborn and widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. His life gets turned upside down when his estranged daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings), moves into his house with her teenage kids. Matt’s son, Nick, is also involved as he puts his life on hold to help his father at the shop.

Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins, and Barrett Margolis also star in the series.
