ABC has given the green light to its Drew Goddard drama, now titled "High Potential," becoming one of the network's selected pilots moving forward. This decision comes as ABC embraces a year-round development model, with potential decisions on the remaining five pilots to be made at a later date.
"High Potential," based on the French series "Haut Potentiel Intellectuel," follows a single mother, played by Kaitlin Olson (known for "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"), who possesses an exceptional mind. Her unconventional talent for solving crimes leads to an extraordinary and unstoppable partnership with a seasoned detective who strictly adheres to the rules, portrayed by Daniel Sunjata. The series boasts a talented ensemble cast including Javicia Leslie ("Batwoman"), Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, and Judy Reyes.
It is produced by ABC Signature, with Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg executive producing through Goddard Textiles, their production company based at Disney. Showrunner Rob Thomas ("Veronica Mars") joins Dan Etheridge of Spondoolie Productions, Pierre Laugier, Anthony Lancret of Itinéraire Productions, and Jean Nainchrik of Septembre Productions as additional executive producers. The pilot was directed by Alethea Jones, and Olson also serves as a producer on the series.
