As it was already been announced last October, Halt and Catch Fire will end after the fourth and final season, so ratings and viewing figures no longer matter. However, looking at the numbers, it somewhat explains why the show was capped at the season 4 mark. Having to beat viewership ratings of shows such as Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead, Halt and Catch Fire didn’t manage to connect with its audience as well as it was expected, although the network praises the drama as a strong creative effort. Even such amazingly strong approval ratings as a very impressive 8.3 out of 10 stars on IMDb, 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 83% on Metacritic couldn’t save the show. After all, the series originally garnered an audience of over 1 Million viewers for the first episode, but that then dropped to under 0.3 Million for some of the latest episodes. This is the main reason, why the show ends after the fourth season, which will be on October 21st, 2017 with the episode “Ten of Swords”.

This series has it all.
Great character and storyline development. Great acting by all of the cast. This also means, great directing and editing.
All of the above made this series a rare treat in a landscape that too often supports mediocrity in all of those categories.
The last episode left me wishing that A&E would have at least wound it down with some class and respect. Maybe HBO could pick it up and run with it now.
