Show info and storyline

A new US criminal drama television series, Feed the Beast is an adaptation from the original Danish series Bankerot. It was developed for AMC by Clyde Philips, and executive produced by Philips, Henrik Ruben Benz, Malene Blenkov and Piv Bernth. The series hails from Clyde Philips Productions, Lionsgate Television and AMC Studios. It premiered on June 5, 2016.

Two friends (who are actually more like brothers) Tommy Moran (David Schwimmer) and Dion Patras (Jim Sturgess) open a Greek restaurant in New York, while both of them are on the brink of personal disaster. Both have a troubled past and are struggling to put it behind them. They are navigating a frantic life in the underbelly of small-time crooks, corrupt officials and dangerous gangs. Pilar Herrera (Lorenzo Izzo) is Tommy's love interest whom he meets in a grief group,

Declining viewership and chances of renewal

Feed the Beast premiered with strong viewership numbers, attracting 976,000 viewers, but quickly lost well over 50% of the audience, and the second episode was seen by slightly under 400,000 people. The critical consensus on review aggregator websites is that the storyline is predictable, the dialogue unnecessarily convoluted and characters utterly lack charm. The measly scores confirm the reviewers' opinion of the series, with 21% on Rotten Tomatoes and 47/100 on Metacritic. With disappointing numbers like these the future is not looking too bright for the show, but there is always a slight chance of the ratings picking up as the season progresses, so please stay tuned for the latest news.

Season 1 recap

The 10-episode freshman season of AMC’s Feed the Beast has concluded on August 2, 2016. What could have potentially been an impressive hit, with household-name acting talent, a very decent budget, and backing from a progressive network, turned out to be a ratings disappointment and a likely candidate for cancelation. Having premiered to 0.976 million viewers, it has immediately plummeted to 0.398 million and remained close to this number, dropping as low as 0.299 in mid-season. The series’ poor character development, predictability and boring, yet convoluted dialogues have all come under fire. There’s no positive critical attention or awards nominations to save Feed the Beast, but a miracle might. Stay tuned and find out whether miracles do happen.

Latest news

UPDATED: September 3, 2016: After a month of deliberations since the conclusion of season one, AMC has announced its decision to cancel its new drama series Feed the Beast. The viewership decline from 0.976 to 0.406 million viewers within the span of one season, and the dramatic drop of the demo rating from 0.31 to 0.11 could not have been good signs of a healthy series bound for a renewal. Schwimmer and Sturgess-led drama has also garnered poor reviews, so a cancelation was a predictable outcome.

Dear AMC I am very disappointed that you did not give the show a chance. Yes, some new shows have problems with character development, storylines, and ratings. This show had it faults, but quess what? They could have all been fixed. I think they pressure the writers to throw all there ideas in at once and it did not mesh well. You have to let a series find itself organically, but you did not even care to give it a chance. AMC this could have been something special, hopefully another network will pick it up.

The people that do AMC I'm sorry but Longmire was a good outstanding show and feed the beast is a good outstanding show but you people are so racist very racist because this has to do with minority Indians Native American and also blacks this is just stupid I'm looking at Walking Dead now people like it but it's still going and feed the beast a lot of people like it but y'all stop that as soon as they show that the boy is a mix a child and is the lead character what the freak

Another decent show canceled due to viewing figures which as we all know are not accurate. Give these new shows a chance I mean star trek was cancelled and then became the longest running series of all time.

One of the best new shows out there! Great story line with lots of twists and turns. Sophisticated and keeps you interested. I'm sick and tired of watching a new show all season and then.....poof! Gone!
This show gave me something to look forward to all week.

This is the second show that I know of that I have a life and I have loved to watch I waited for the next Tuesday to come and you guys AMC is really I believe they are the most prejudiced people of all Races and Creeds and you can't prove it otherwise because you keep cancelling the good shows the ones that have the best things to talk about between children and what is going on. I think I will possibly stop watching AMC and telling all my family and all the friends to stop to boycott AMC

I just started watching this show on demand & I am hooked! I am seriously [censored]ed that AMC is canceling it so soon. A show with so much potential & a different storyline was refreshing. Honestly hate investing in shows that actually are great but that networks fail to give a chance.

This show was one of our favourite shows !!! Looked forward to Tuesday nights to see the next one, every character was interesting & the story line was great. Maybe it was because most of the actors aren't known names/faces that people didn't give it a chance. Our top 3 shows are all AMC.....TWD, Better Call Saul & Feed the Beast. We hope this decision will be reversed & the show given another chance.

This was a fantastic show. I must have weak prediction skills since I was not at all able to predict what was coming (how could you know Pilar was faking her cause for involvement in the grief group). This show should definitely be renewed. Please make Tommy a more assertive character. He's a little too milk toast; encouraging his lovers to seek affection elsewhere. Please renew this..

I'm really sad & disappointed that more people didn't watch this show- I really love it.
As far as the characters lacking charm, I wouldn't go that far. Also, it's hard to have charm when they're going through the [censored] they're going through. Some things may have been a little predictable, but I don't think it all was. Actually, if people saw some of the things that happened coming, they must have ESP.
AMC has many successful shows. The Walking Dead is a gold mine- then they got FearTWD, Halt & Catch Fire, the new show Preacher, and many others. It wouldn't kill them to give this show another chance. Especially since they ended the season on a cliffhanger!!!
