Show info and storyline
A new US criminal drama television series, Feed the Beast is an adaptation from the original Danish series Bankerot. It was developed for AMC by Clyde Philips, and executive produced by Philips, Henrik Ruben Benz, Malene Blenkov and Piv Bernth. The series hails from Clyde Philips Productions, Lionsgate Television and AMC Studios. It premiered on June 5, 2016.
Two friends (who are actually more like brothers) Tommy Moran (David Schwimmer) and Dion Patras (Jim Sturgess) open a Greek restaurant in New York, while both of them are on the brink of personal disaster. Both have a troubled past and are struggling to put it behind them. They are navigating a frantic life in the underbelly of small-time crooks, corrupt officials and dangerous gangs. Pilar Herrera (Lorenzo Izzo) is Tommy's love interest whom he meets in a grief group,
Declining viewership and chances of renewal
Feed the Beast premiered with strong viewership numbers, attracting 976,000 viewers, but quickly lost well over 50% of the audience, and the second episode was seen by slightly under 400,000 people. The critical consensus on review aggregator websites is that the storyline is predictable, the dialogue unnecessarily convoluted and characters utterly lack charm. The measly scores confirm the reviewers' opinion of the series, with 21% on Rotten Tomatoes and 47/100 on Metacritic. With disappointing numbers like these the future is not looking too bright for the show, but there is always a slight chance of the ratings picking up as the season progresses, so please stay tuned for the latest news.
Season 1 recap
The 10-episode freshman season of AMC’s Feed the Beast has concluded on August 2, 2016. What could have potentially been an impressive hit, with household-name acting talent, a very decent budget, and backing from a progressive network, turned out to be a ratings disappointment and a likely candidate for cancelation. Having premiered to 0.976 million viewers, it has immediately plummeted to 0.398 million and remained close to this number, dropping as low as 0.299 in mid-season. The series’ poor character development, predictability and boring, yet convoluted dialogues have all come under fire. There’s no positive critical attention or awards nominations to save Feed the Beast, but a miracle might. Stay tuned and find out whether miracles do happen.
Latest news
UPDATED: September 3, 2016: After a month of deliberations since the conclusion of season one, AMC has announced its decision to cancel its new drama series Feed the Beast. The viewership decline from 0.976 to 0.406 million viewers within the span of one season, and the dramatic drop of the demo rating from 0.31 to 0.11 could not have been good signs of a healthy series bound for a renewal. Schwimmer and Sturgess-led drama has also garnered poor reviews, so a cancelation was a predictable outcome.

This show gave me something to look forward to all week.
It should be given another chance!
As far as the characters lacking charm, I wouldn't go that far. Also, it's hard to have charm when they're going through the [censored] they're going through. Some things may have been a little predictable, but I don't think it all was. Actually, if people saw some of the things that happened coming, they must have ESP.
AMC has many successful shows. The Walking Dead is a gold mine- then they got FearTWD, Halt & Catch Fire, the new show Preacher, and many others. It wouldn't kill them to give this show another chance. Especially since they ended the season on a cliffhanger!!!
