An entertaining American crime drama and rom-com television series, The Catch, debuted in the US in March of 2016 on ABC. The show was created by Jennifer Schuur and Helen Gregory, developed by Alan Heinberg and executive produced by Betsy Beers, Shonda Rhimes and Julie Anne Robertson. ShondaLand and ABC Studios are behind the production.
Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) is an LA private investigator who becomes the victim of fraud by her fiance. She has to find him, before her career falls on the road to disaster. Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause) reprises the role of her scheming fiance, with Sonya Walger, Jacky Ido, Rose Rollins, Alimi Ballard and Jay Hayden co-starring.
Current season ratings and reviews
Season 2 of The Catch premiered on ABC on March 9, 2017 and it will consist of 10 episodes with the season finale scheduled to be broadcast on May 11, 2017. The current chapter began right after the events of the debut installment, with Ben cutting the deal with the FBI to help them catch The Firm in order to avoid going to prison. As Margot’s mother is now behind bars, she finally gets to run the organization by herself. The show represents a very balanced and easy on the eye and mind mixture of crime drama, comedy and romance and like most Shondaland series is very popular with the audience. The sophomore installment, however, has seen a dip to its ratings: the series currently averages 3.4 million viewers per episode, which is 26% less than the success of the debut chapter. Whether or not ABC decides to give The Catch Season 3 a chance remains to be seen.
