A spin-off series hailing from Shark Tank, Beyond the Tank debuted on ABC on May 1, 2015 with only three of the ten episodes ordered for the first season. The second season premiered on January 5, 2016 before settling into its regular time slot on January 7, 2016. The series is produced by United Artists Media and Sony Pictures Television, and executive produced by Mark Burnett, Clay Newbill and Lesley Garvin.
The series portrays the entrepreneurs and their products that were presented in the original Shark Tank series. Some of them were invested in, others did not find enough support in the investor's panel. The series is basically an expansion on the Shark Tank's two-minute update bits that were incorporated into each episode. Three products or services are reviewed in each of the Beyond the Tank's episodes.
Ratings and renewal prospects
It's naturally curious to see where the business ideas have gone, what they have transformed into, and how some of the rejected projects have blossomed. The series is an inspiring and appropriate accompaniment to Shark Tank that gives the original show an extra dimension. The format incorporates both the emotional investment that these entrepreneurs are making along with the purely informative aspect of the business ventures. The freshman season premiere of Beyond the Tank scored 6.38 million viewers and a 1.5 rating in the P18-49 demographic, and the current season gathered a smaller number of viewers – 3.88 million – but seems to be picking up, and has as much of a chance for success and further renewal.
