About the series
Created by Mark Burnett and Mike Darnell, 500 Questions is an American game show in which people try to answer general knowledge trivia that is divided into ten rounds of fifty questions. Hosted by CNN journalist Richard Quest, 500 Questions originally premiered on ABC on May 20, 2015, and the second exciting season of the intricately structured contest debuted on May 26, 2016.
Each round of the game consists of ten categories with five questions. Contestants don’t have a chance to ask for anyone’s assistance, or use any saves; if they answer three questions incorrectly, they are eliminated. They are challenged by a contender, who, if they answer two questions wrong in the categories of their choice, chooses the category for them in order to try and knock the contestant out of the game. If the challenger succeeds, he takes the place of the contestant and begins his own game of 500 questions. If the contestant stands within that round, the challenger is eliminated. The amount of money won depends on the questions answered in all of the rounds. So far, the highest prize was $110 000 won by Adam Villani, who was eliminated on question 168.
