Summary and storyline
Created by Laurie Finstad-Knizhnik, Strange Empire is a Canadian western drama television series about three strong women who band together in order to protect their lives after the men of their town were murdered. The series originally aired in Canada on CBC but was cancelled after just one season. However, the show found new life in the U.S. on the Lifetime Network, which picked it up under a new tagline Strange Empire: Rise of the Women. The first season premiered in the U.S. on May 29, 2015.
Set in 1869, this series portrays three women living in the perilous and dangerous Montana and Alberta region. Kat and Rebecca and their husbands have moved to a small town in the North American frontier, trying to begin their lives as newly married couples. Once in Janestown, they meet Isabelle Slotter, who runs a famous House of Prostitution and whose husband is a very powerful man in the area. After a conflict between several men arises, Captain John Slotter and his helpers murder all men of the town and attempt to make every woman work as prostitutes. It is at this moment that Kat, Rebecca and Isabelle realize that that they must join forces to protect themselves in this risky world.
Ratings, reviews and possible renewal
LMN is broadcast to some 86 million people in the U.S., which makes the chances of success for this series a lot greater than in Canada. Scoring a 6.5 out of 10 on IMDb, the show has a steady viewer base and has received critical acclaim. Although at this moment there’s no news on the future of the series, we hope that we will see Strange Empire: Rise of the Women Season 2 in the future.

It pains me to see such asinine reality shows on TV. How many episodes of Dance Moms & Hoarders can you watch??? Furthermore; I cannot believe that shows like Honey boo boo, Real housewives & a number of ridiculous shows like Breaking Amish get renewed again and again & who I personally believe the Amish community would definitely vote for a cancelation for the embarrassment of their culture. Sorry for getting off topic. Please bring back Strange Empire, it was highly enjoyable. Or pick up the dumped White Queen from Stars! That was an amazing historical/fictional show that is in desperate need for second season!
