AMC's "The Walking Dead" is a post-apocalyptic horror television series based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The show follows a group of survivors led by former sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes as they navigate a world overrun by zombies, referred to as "walkers." Throughout the series, the characters face numerous challenges, both from the undead and from other groups of survivors competing for resources and power. Themes of survival, morality, and the human condition are central to the show's narrative, as the characters grapple with the loss of loved ones, the need for community, and the constant threat of danger.
As the series progresses, the survivors encounter various communities, including the fortified town of Alexandria, the authoritarian regime of the Saviors led by the tyrannical Negan, and the mysterious Commonwealth. Along the way, they form alliances, forge friendships, and confront their own inner demons. The show is known for its intense action sequences, complex characters, and emotional storytelling, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats as they follow the characters' struggle for survival in a world gone mad.
"The Walking Dead" can be watched on AMC, the network on which it originally airs. Additionally, the show is available for streaming on various platforms, including AMC+, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. Viewers can catch up on past seasons or watch new episodes shortly after they air on television. Some streaming platforms may require a subscription or additional fee to access the show, while others offer it as part of their standard subscription package. Whether binge-watching past seasons or eagerly awaiting the latest episodes, fans of "The Walking Dead" have multiple options for enjoying the series from the comfort of their own homes.
In addition to the main series, several spin-off shows set in the same universe have been created, offering fans even more content to explore. These spin-offs include "Fear the Walking Dead," which follows a different group of survivors in the early days of the zombie apocalypse, and "The Walking Dead: World Beyond," which focuses on a new generation coming of age in the post-apocalyptic world. With multiple series and streaming options available, fans of "The Walking Dead" can immerse themselves in its richly detailed universe whenever and wherever they choose.
After a successful run spanning over a decade, AMC's "The Walking Dead" is set to conclude with its eleventh season. The final season promises to deliver closure for long-time fans, as well as epic battles, emotional farewells, and resolutions to long-standing storylines. As the survivors continue to grapple with the ever-present threat of the undead, they must also confront their own pasts and decide what kind of future they want to build in a world ravaged by chaos and destruction. With the fate of humanity hanging in the balance, the stakes have never been higher for Rick Grimes and his allies.
Although "The Walking Dead" will be coming to an end with its eleventh season, fans need not despair, as there are plenty of spin-off shows set in the same universe to look forward to. These spin-offs explore different aspects of the post-apocalyptic world and introduce new characters and storylines for viewers to enjoy. From the intense drama of "Fear the Walking Dead" to the coming-of-age tale of "The Walking Dead: World Beyond," there's something for every fan of the franchise to sink their teeth into. While saying goodbye to the original series may be bittersweet, the legacy of "The Walking Dead" will live on in its spin-offs, ensuring that the undead continue to roam the small screen for years to come.

As Norman Reedus bids "adieu" to The Walking Dead after 11 seasons, the actor is saying "bonjour" to the Daryl Dixon spin-off. Reedus took to Instagram Monday to reveal the first season is in production as filming has officially begun in Paris, France.
The series, which has revealed the working title The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, was originally developed by Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple as the Daryl & Carol spin-off co-starring Reedus and Melissa McBride. The longtime Carol actress bowed out when a move overseas became "logistically untenable," but McBride is expected to reprise her role in the future.

The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus says the concussion he suffered while filming the show's final episode was far worse than initially reported. Reedus spoke to Entertainment Weekly for the outlet's Fall TV preview issue and revealed the accident was far more severe than reported at the time. The actor described the experience as "horrible" and said, "That whole ordeal for me personally was terrifying. I thought I was going to die."
Reedus was injured earlier this year while filming the last episode of AMC's The Walking Dead in which he plays the crossbow-wielding Daryl Dixon. It is unclear how the accident occurred, but Reedus was taken to the hospital with a severe concussion and had to undergo various neurological tests. (source: CBR.com)
During the cable channel's virtual Television Critics Association presentation on Wednesday, Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said it would send off "the most successful series in the history of cable television" with an "epic live event" on the night of the Walking Dead series finale. AMC's Walking Dead live finale fan event is set to take place on November 20 in Los Angeles. A guest lineup, how to attend, and more details are forthcoming. (source: Comicbook. com)
AMC has announced the guests who will reveal intel on The Walking Dead spinoff shows live on Talking Dead. The network will air an hour-long special titled The Walking Dead Universe Preview to tease the new spinoffs in the expanding universe around The Walking Dead, including the just-announced series reuniting Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Airing Sunday, August 7, ahead of the series premiere of Tales of the Walking Dead (which arrives on August 14), Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick will welcome actors and creators from across AMC's TWD Universe for a special preview of the shows airing this year and beyond. (Source: Comicbook. com)
They include Tales of the Walking Dead, an episodic anthology developed by Gimple; Isle of the Dead, which sees rivals Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) travel together into post-apocalyptic Manhattan; the Europe-set solo series focused on Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus); and Lincoln and Gurira's as-yet-untitled Rick and Michonne series that replaces the Walking Dead movie trilogy. (Source: Comicbook. com)
The latest TWD spinoff will present an epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?
The Walking Dead Universe’s Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple will serve as showrunner for the series, with Lincoln and Gurira as EPs. The show is set to launch with six episodes next year. (source: Deadline. com)
One of the upcoming spinoff series of The Walking Dead has been hit with another major change. On Friday, it was confirmed that the upcoming Daryl Dixon-centered spinoff series will be changing showrunners, with current The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang stepping down from her work on the spinoff series. Kang is expected to still serve as executive producer on the series, and reportedly stepped aside to focus on other projects she has in the works at AMC. Stumptown and Mercy Street alum David Zabel will be stepping in as the new showrunner on the currently-untitled series, which is expected to debut sometime in 2023.
A "strategic pivot" is reportedly taking place for the series, ahead of production starting in the next two or three months (source: Comicbook. com)
The spinoff will now focus solely on Daryl. “Melissa McBride has given life to one of the most interesting, real, human and popular characters in ‘The Walking Dead’ Universe,” AMC said in a statement. “Unfortunately, she is no longer able to partici pate in the previously announced spin-off focused on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and premiere next year. Relocating to Europe became logistically untenable for Melissa at this time. We know fans will be disappointed by this news, but ‘The Walking Dead’ Universe continues to grow and expand in interesting ways and we very much hope to see Carol again in the near future.” (source: Variety. com)
The two series are set to premiere in 2023.
AMC, the home of hit series The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul, has already set its eyes on its 2023 programming. The network announced that it has greenlit two new series for the next year, with a six-order episode for each. Demascus is an original story that chronicles life of an ordinary Black man in America today, and Invitation to a Bonfire is based on a novel which, in turn, is based on a real story about the disturbing marriage of Russian author Vladimir Nabokov. (source: Collider.com)
The six-episode New York-set series will debut in 2023.
AMC on Monday announced a six-episode series order for Isle of the Dead, a spinoff of the flagship series set to star Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as they reprise their respective roles as Maggie and Negan.
Longtime TWD writer Eli Jorné will serve as showrunner on the drama via his overall deal with AMC Studios. The series will be overseen by TWD Universe content chief Scott M. Gimple and debut in 2023. Isle of the Dead will be set in Manhattan and follow Negan and Maggie exploring a post-apocalyptic New York City. Cohan and Morgan will also serve as exec producers. (source: Collider.com)
It's available on TWD YouTube channel.
Tales of the Walking Dead is coming to life in Buford, Georgia. According to the Gainesville Times, the episodic anthology spinoff is scheduled to begin filming in Hall County on Tuesday, January 18.
Channing Powell, a veteran writer-producer of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, will serve as showrunner for the spinoff developed by chief content officer Scott Gimple. Producers have confirmed actors and characters from past seasons of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will return on Tales, telling all-new stories set throughout the timeline of the zombie apocalypse.

The Walking Dead is returning to the beginning before the end. Starting on January 23, AMC Networks will air The Walking Dead: Origins on Sundays leading up to Part 2 of the Final Season on February 20. The four-part series of specials, which streamed exclusively for AMC+ subscribers last summer, revisits the stories of major TWD characters as presented and narrated by the cast member who plays them.
The Walking Dead: Origins – Daryl's Story on Sunday, January 23, at 9 p.m. ET. In that same timeslot: Maggie's Story on January 30, Negan's Story on February 6, and Carol's Story on February 13. ( Source: Comicbook. com)
"I wish that there were more updates. There's a lot going on behind the scenes," Kirkman said during virtual Comic-Con in July, adding: "We don't want a bad Rick Grimes movie. We want an amazing Rick Grimes movie, so everybody behind the scenes is making sure that when this comes out it was worth the wait and it is actually the special, character-building Rick Grimes journey that everybody wants it to be." (Spoiler warning for TWD Universe)
The Walking Dead: World Beyond keeps referencing the same high-ranking CRM figure. Could they be the main villain in Rick Grimes' upcoming movie? AMC's The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2 begins with Hope Bennett taken semi-willingly by the CRM (Civic Republic Military). The military arm of the 200,000-strong Civic Republic settlement, the CRM are, by all accounts, overarching antagonists of the entire Walking Dead franchise, appearing in all 3 TV shows. And as more details regarding the CRM come to light, a potential villain for Rick Grimes shuffles into view - Major General Beale.
Elizabeth Kublek is, to all intents and purposes, the leader of the CRM as far as Walking Dead: World Beyond's narrative is concerned. However, Elizabeth isn't where the CRM buck stops.

What's your favorite scene from this season?
My favorite scene has been when Judith pulled the knife on Vincent. That was so fun because she's so sweet, and when I got to be mean, it was so fun because I'm not mean in real life. Obviously, I would never pull a sword on anybody, but that was really cool. When he pushed me down, I got to actually fall, and there was a pad there. It was just really cool and different. I felt like a super hero.
Do you have any extra comments or any teasers why we should watch the rest of the season?
You should definitely finish Season 11 because there's going to be some really cool things, and you haven't even seen my favorite stuff that we've shot yet. It returns Feb. 20. I'm so excited.

The Walking Dead season 11B returns February 20, 2022 !
Source: Deadline
But we still have at least 2 more spinoffs coming (D&C show and Tales of TWD), Fear TWD (producers/showrunners say they have more ideas to take the show past 7 seasons), the final season of the limited series TWB (not the best IMO, but season 2 looks like it will be better), and the Rick movie(s). Production on the first movie was supposed to start in 2020 , but was of course delayed due to covid.
