Blood & Oil is a new American prime time TV soap opera that follows and young couple as they make their life in Rock Springs, North Dakota after the biggest American oil discovery. Created by Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne the series premiered on ABC on September 27, 2015.

Filmed in North Utah, Blood & Oil features a stellar cast headed by Don Jonson as oil tycoon Hap Briggs and former super-model Amber Valletta as his catty socialite wife Clara. With a focus on a geopolitical shift and economic boom following the discovery of oil deposits in North Dakota, the series chronicles the life of a family who moved to Rock Springs in search of a more prosperous future. After years of putting the project on hold, Blood & Oil was finally scheduled to be released in 2015. Yet, since it’s season 1 premiere, the show has received mixed and mostly average reviews from critics and audiences. With just 61% approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and an average score of 5.9 out of 10 from critics, the show’s future is still very much uncertain.

ABC initially commission the series for a 13 episode run, but after seven episodes, and a drastic reduction in TV ratings — by nearly half since the series premiere. On October 23, 2015 the network reduced the number of total episodes to 10, with the season finale slated to air sometime in November. Given the serious decline in ratings, it is unlikely the ABC will renew Blood & Oil for season 2.

I and my family fall in love in this show.
Acting, story everything wasn't just great it was much more just as I intended to look when it will return my mom asked me to look when season 2 will be on air. We all love the show. And we really really want it back. Look all the comments above me how much people love the show. Don't abandon all of us. Please let this show come back

I agree with all the previous posts, good cast, good script and good acting. Yes the ridiculously successful 'Dallas' also sprang to my mind when watching 'Blood & Oil' but thirty odd years ago we didn't have the viewing options that we enjoy today. Back then each country had only a small handful of terrestrial channels which had a greater chance of showing these types of shows making it much easier to assess popularity. Today they have been joined by Sky, Amazon, Netfix etc, meaning that global viewing is more segmented nowadays. The 'bean counters' whom decide the fates of these shows have a much harder time gauging what is going to be successful or not. It seems that the tedious and repetitive genre of 'reality' shows have taken an unhealthy grip on TV viewers these days, so the money men of the TV production companies appear to favor this insidious mindless dross over shows that offer a good story. Will 'Blood & Oil' be back? I wouldn't hold your breath, unfortunately!!!

Bring it back I'm so sick of these people already damn we get a great show n for what they stop it why because there isn't enough people who get on the computer to well bottom line is VOTE it's bull[censored] every show I love is gone ..... Blood & oil , deception, 666 park Ave, witches of East end, a few good shows on lifetime, Carter, and trust me I can keep going but what's the point they do what they want no matter what we say .... I really wish they would keep just one of my shows running because I don't have all that many left anymore to watch .... Think of us little people just once ...

The ONLY reason the decline in viewers, was that ABC AND THE CABLE/SATELLITE companies COULDN'T negotiate a contract and The VIEWERS didn't have a choice, but to not watch.....REALLY??? THE show was awesome!! Renew their contract with a company that will air all their episodes and see just how many viewers/followers they have. DINKS!!!

Feisty~ I just had to google this show to see when it was going to air for Fall, very disappointed finding this news that they may not air.... this was such a good story line . The next Dallas night time soap that we need. There hasn't been a good show since Dallas or Knots landing like this... please keep it going. It has great beautiful actors and keeps you glued wanting more. I'm sure more will tune in. Rome wasn't built in a year! Give it a shot! So many I know really liked it.

I loved this show ! Can someone pick it up if ABC won't bring it back ...it was finally a show with good writing and acting...I don't want to see another show about bachelor's , dancing and big brother...seriously these shows stay on but a great story line with good twists and acting you are not going to renew?
I am bummed and have alot of friends that have been waiting for season 2 .

This show was fantastic, with a Dallas vibe. I wonder how the ratings are calculated. I, for one, work 12 hour shifts and cannot watch most shows at the day and time they come on, so I have to catch up "On Demand". Do they consider this when calculating the ratings?
