Variety has obtained information that FX is set to produce a limited series adaptation of Patrick Radden Keefe's book "Say Nothing."
This nine-episode series delves into the turbulent era of The Troubles in Northern Ireland and boasts a cast including Lola Petticrew ("Tuesday," "Dating Amber," "Bloodlands"), Hazel Doupe ("Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale," "You Are Not My Mother," "Smother"), Anthony Boyle ("The Plot Against America," "Manhunt," "Masters of the Airs"), Josh Finan ("The Responder," "Baby Reindeer," "The Gentlemen"), and Maxine Peake ("Funny Cow," "The Theory of Everything," "Peterloo").
The series will be exclusively available on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ in all other territories.
"Say Nothing," spanning four decades, intricately explores The Troubles in Northern Ireland. The narrative kicks off with the shocking disappearance of Jean McConville, a single mother of ten abducted in 1972, never to be seen alive again. McConville's fate is intertwined with others collectively known as The Disappeared. The series unfolds through the perspectives of various IRA members, including sisters Dolours and Marian Price, Brendan Hughes (a conflicted military strategist), and Gerry Adams (a political operator who would later negotiate peace but deny his IRA involvement).
"Say Nothing" unravels the extremes within a civil rights movement, exploring the mysteries surrounding The Disappeared, the price of silence, and how society attempts to heal after a prolonged and bloody conflict.
