Now that Jason Watkins will now feature in Channel 5's Catch You Later as Huw Miller with Grantchester's Robson Green and Casualty's Sunetra Sarker while Tala Gouveia will now appear in BBC One's Death in Paradise Series 14 as Kelly Herbert.
First broadcast in March 2020, the show featured two mismatched detectives DCI Lauren (Tala Gouveia) and her bespectacled sidekick DS Dodds (Jason Watkins) solve each crimes around Bath and the surrounding region within southwest England.
Each feature-length episode featured a new murder mystery with the smart and ambitious DCI McDonald and the quietly brilliant DS Dodds working together to crack the cases. Further casting included Claire Skinner (Outnumbered) and Charlie Chambers (EastEnders).
Guest cast in the last series included Toby Stephens (Lost In Space), singer-songwriters Pixie Lott and Will Young, Hugh Quarshie (Stephen), Lydia Leonard (Gentleman Jack), Daniel Lapaine (Catastrophe), Dipo Ola (Landscapers), John Gordon Sinclair (Gregory’s Girl) and Ace Bhatti (Line of Duty).

Bath-set crime drama McDonald & Dodds has been axed by ITV after four series. The show featured two mismatched detectives DCI Lauren McDonald (Tala Gouveia), a former Metropolitan Police investigator and her bespectacled sidekick DS Dodds (Jason Watkins), a shy and a modest investigator, also a chips and butter lover, who solve each crimes around Bath and the surrounding region.
Originally titled Invisible, a pair of films from the first series were shot between June and August 2019, which was broadcast in March 2020. After a success in ratings, the show was renewed for a second series in February 2021 followed by a third series in June 2022. In March 2023, it was renewed for a fourth series and was broadcast in July 2024, three months later than planned.
Alongside Gouveia and Watkins, the show also featured recurring actors who worked at the fictional West of England Police Station comprised of James Murray (CS John Houseman), Claire Skinner (CS Mary Ormond), Pearl Chanda (DC Laura Simpson), Jack Riddiford (DC Darren Craig), Danyal Ismail (DC Martin Malik), Lily Sacofsky (DC Milena Paciorkowski), Charlie Chambers (DC Samuel Goldie) and Bhavik C. Pankhania (DC Lee).
