The brand new reality television documentary Released on the American network OWN premiered on September 30th, 2017 for its very first series. The show hails from the production company Lucky 8 TV and is executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, Greg Henry, Kim Woodard, Jarrett Lambo and Keayr Braxton.
In America, every week over 10,000 men and women are released from prison and the first 90 days after they get out will ultimately determine their future. Often, these former inmates will have to face huge changes in their once familiar environment, some will have deal with very limited resources on the outside and the stigma attached to them won’t help their volatile situation either. Hence the reason why around 40% of convicted felons will re-offend within the first six months of their release. Released follows the six inmates Bruce, Jermaine, Kay, Kevin, Michael and Sam as they step out into their new freedom and having to face the challenges that come with it.
