The first season of the new British game show Babushka premiered on the ITV Network with twenty episodes on May 1st, 2017. The series is produced by STV Productions and executive produced by Gary Chippington. Game show host for Babushka is Rylan Clark-Neal.
In a nutshell, a team of two contestants each answer a set of questions to open a giant Babushka – which is basically a huge Russian nesting doll. Some of the parts are empty, however some contain smaller dolls, which in turn hold cash prizes. First they must choose the right ones out of ten dolls, two of which are empty and the top one holding £10,000. Prize money starts at £500, gradually growing to £1000, £2000 and then £5000 before it hits the top prize. Some dolls don’t contain all of these prizes. There are also life lines to help the contestants with their choices and answers.
