On March 2nd, 2017 the first season of a brand new crime drama TV series called Prime Suspect 1973 premiered on ITV with six brand new episodes. The crime thriller is produced by ITV Productions and executive produced by Camilla Campbell, Camilla Campbell and Robert Wulff-Cochran.
Prime Suspect 1973 follows the young police recruit Jane Tennison on her first day in the force. Immediately, she has to endure sexism and everything else that comes with being only 22 years old trying to enforce some authority and to make matters worse, she also gets thrown into a full blown murder investigation. Stefanie Martini plays the role of Jane Tennison, the young police officer. Sam Reid, Blake Harrison, Alun Armstrong and Ruth Sheen also star, just to name a few.
Since its launch, Prime Suspect 1973 has had a pretty strong first season. Just for the first episode alone 7.32 Million viewers tuned in to watch this new crime drama and the remaining five episodes all average around 5.8 Million viewers. The overall rating of 7.2 out of 10 on IMDb is also nothing to be ashamed of. However, there are some, who praise the acting, but not the series, calling it mediocre. As of today, ITV has not yet made any announcements regarding the future of the show, so stay tuned and we will keep you updated if and when Prime Suspect 1973 will come back with Series 2.
