Basic info and storyline
The documentary Secrets of the Underground hit our screens on 14th of February 2017 for its very first season on the American Science Channel. Since then, the show has been renewed for a second season, which kicked off on October 28th, 2017 with brand new episodes. Produced by the Science Channel and the studio Lucky 8, the show features eight episodes. The executive producers are Gregory Henry, Isaac Holub, Kimberly Woodard and Neil Laird, just to name a few.
Secrets of the Underground – a very self-explanatory title for a documentary – leads us beneath the surface to a subterranean forgotten world of ancient structures, secret tunnels beneath Alcatraz, sewers and caves, even lost civilizations and some strange geological occurrences. The investigator and narrator in this bizarre and all the more fascinating series is Emmy Award winner Rob Nelson, an ecologist who has a long list of scientific and documentary achievements under his belt and who will literally drag us into the unknown down below. One amazing feat is the fact, that our latest cutting edge technology really does make a difference in discovering such unseen places. From ground penetrating radar, a light detection and ranging device called LIDAR and 3-D imaging – everything is accessible literally at the tip of our fingers.
