One thing about the Oprah Winfrey Network is this vibe that every show is glowing in some supernatural godly light of some deeper life purpose and meaning to things, we often overlook. This lady isn’t called the mother of daytime-television for no reason, because anything Oprah touches turns into TV gold. Fact. The shows she picks for her very own network all have something “else” going on other than the obvious, where a mere cooking show becomes soul food and where a home makeover series becomes all about improving people’s lives other than just replacing furniture or the color in the front room. Wellbeing is huge in Oprah’s world and Home Made Simple follows that exact format once again – now with Laila Ali, who is a force to be reckoned with herself – and not in the sporty sense, but because this woman also has a huge heart and loves to help those around her even just by cooking some delicious food. Basic info and plot
The Daytime Emmy Award winning DIY reality TV show Home Made Simple originally debuted on the American network TLC back in 2006, before it was picked up by Oprah Winfrey's Network after already eight seasons. OWN started this show off with a brand new season-roster with season 1 on October 23rd, 2011 and has since renewed the series for overall seven installments. Season 7 kicked off on November 3, 2017 with a brand new host – Muhammed Ali’s daughter Laila Ali, who herself is an undefeated four-time boxing world champion as well as a cookbook author.
Home Made Simple is one of those shows that bursts with inspiration, ideas and then colorful stories of real people trying to make their life mean something. And those are the people that are being helped by a team of professional designers, carpenters all the way to even famous chefs, who pop in for the odd inspirational dish to improve the lives of those who deserve it. And by those, we mean people like a couple running a self-funded animal rescue from home, or yet another couple cooking meals in their own kitchen for homeless people on the streets and so on. The list of those needing help is endless, but so is the wealth of ideas and improvements the show brings in – in typical Oprah Winfrey fashion.
