About the series
History has launched The Selection: Special Operations Experiment, a new military special ops reality series on December 8, 2016. The show is executive produced by Peter Berg, Matt Goldberg, Brandon Carroll and Grant Kahler at Film 45 and Gil Goldschein at Bunim/Murray Productions along with Cem Yeter, Joel Karsberg, Tim Healy, Stephen Mintz and Russ McCarroll. The program is based on a successful British format Sas: Who Dares Wins, with the freshman season containing eight episodes.
30 men and women with no experience in military training are put through the paces by special ops veterans who hail from the Navy SEALs, Army Rangers and Green Berets. The challenges are exhausting both mentally and physically – extreme sleep deprivation, tear gas exposure, interrogation, not to mention the draining non-stop exercises. The series is not a competition in the typical television format, since there are no prizes besides the satisfaction from managing to push one's limits extensively.
