Storyline and info
A new science fiction drama series Incorporated has premiered on SyFy on November 30, 2016, with the first episode available online two weeks ahead of the broadcast debut. Created by David and Alex Pastor, the series is executive produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Todd and Ted Humphrey, and is the product of creative collaboration between Pearl Street Films, Algorithm Entertainment, Universal Cable Productions and CBS Television Studios. The freshman season contains 10 episodes.
The storyline is set in Milwaukee, USA in a dystopian future, 2074 to be specific. The backdrop, unfortunately, does not seem the least bit implausible, with multinational corporations replacing national governments and taking control over certain regions of the world called Green Zones. The rest of the territories, Red Zones, are not effectively governed by anyone at all. Ben Larson (Sean Teale) is at the center of the narrative, which follows his double life as a manager of a major biotech company in the Green Zone and a sleeper agent of the shadowy powers of the Red Zone.
Season 1 recap
SyFy's dystopian drama Incorporated went out with a bang on January 25, 2017. The season finale left many prospects open for a potential second installment. Laura's revealed to finally be pregnant, Ben's investigation hits a critical crossroads, Laura and Elizabeth are dealing with the clinic. The two-part finale attracted 0.55 million viewers and garnered a 0.23 demo rating for the first part, and went down to 0.41 million and 0.15 in the demo for part two. The end was not a neat and conclusive one, on the contrary, it was full of different vectors that may continue in the next chapter, if, of course, there is one.
Reviews and renewal projections
The series' debut season is attracting mostly positive reviews, and solid review aggregator scores of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes, 62% on Metacritic and 7.2/10 on IMDb. Viewers seem to be intrigued by the thrilling sci-fi action, and find the show thought-provoking and suspenseful. The first-rate production values are, to be honest, not typical of all SyFy shows, so this is definitely a refreshing change, with interesting cinematography, inspired acting, unpredictable plot twists and rather impressive special effects. The show is currently averaging upwards of 0.5 million viewers, with practically no loss of viewership since the series premiere. Incorporated has not been renewed for a second season just yet, but it seems more than feasible, so please stay tuned and we will inform you when SyFy makes its decision.
