Show concept and format
No Such Thing as the News is a British comedy series with pedigree closely related to two other programs. It is a spinoff of the No Such Thing as a Fish podcast and is presented by the research team of the mega-hit television panel game show QI, known collectively as QI Elves. The show is produced by QITV and John Lloyd, who is behind QI. It has originally aired in May 2016 on BBC Two, with the second series not far behind, premiering on October 12, 2016.
The QI Elves themselves are James Harkin, Andrew Hunter Murray, Anna Ptaszynski and Dan Schreiber. In every episode each one presents the news fact of the week of their choice and discusses it in detail, adding on related facts, which are sometimes unexpected, sometimes disturbing, but always hilarious. Some of the information imparted is so strange that it inspires immediate googling.
