Series info and storyline

Aftermath is a Canadian sci-fi drama television series that premiered on September 27, 2016 on SyFy in the United States and on Canadian network Space. The show was created and executive produced by William Laurin and Glenn Davis, with Julie Hope also executive producing. Hailing from Bell Media, Universal Cable Productions and Halfire Entertainment, the first season contains thirteen episodes.

The Copeland family is at the center of Aftermath’s storyline. Karen (Anne Heche) and Joshua (James Tupper) and their three children Matt (Levi Meaden), Dana (Julia Sarah Stone) and Brianna (Taylor Hickson) do their best to survive in a situation where an extraordinary streak of natural disasters leads to the rise of supernatural beings and the civilization veers quickly towards ultimate destruction.

Mixed reviews and chances of renewal

The dystopian series premiered to 0.63 million viewers and remained solid for the following episodes, not losing any ground so far. However, the reviews are mixed and show has merely a 4.9/10 score on IMDb. There is a lot of criticism towards the stereotypical, unlikable and unbelievable characters, the unremarkable storyline, and the poor writing and acting. Aftermath is indeed rather formulaic, but there is a niche for uncomplicated entertainment with expected twists and turns and the usual thrills. Will we see more of the Copelands’ post-apocalyptic adventures? No decision has been revealed yet by the network, so please stay tuned and we’ll keep you informed.

Latest news

UPDATED January 13, 2017: Following just one season on Syfy, the Canadian apocalyptic sci-fi drama series Aftermath has been canceled by the network. The reviews garnered by Aftermath's freshman season were not quite stellar, and neither were the viewership numbers, so the cancelation does not come as much of a surprise. Farewell, the Copelands...

Before they cancel a show such as Aftermath they should do an actual poll so the viewers can tell what they really think...And as for myself I couldn't wait for it to come back on.

Idk man I kinda liked it, I thought the idea and storyline were good, it kept wanting to see what happens next. Too the bad acting makes for a good laugh some. I like making fun of [censored] like that while I'm watching a show, especially duty. Anyway sucks how it ended then if there not having season 2 because they really made it look like they were gonna have a second ??

I think it's not bad in the end, there are around the biggest [censored] ... the acting needs to improve, but nothing so terrible.
There are worst series go ahead without problems, this at least offers something new if we want.

Frankly, I don't think the show deserves to be renewed - poor writing, equally bad acting, and trope after silly trope. This is the second show, counting Van Helsing as the other, where a military member is portrayed in the most ridiculous and unrealistic way, which is then layered on top of the most unrealistic writing to be shown on television. I don't find it odd that SyFy and most network TV shows no longer have official forums to discuss their shows - the writing is almost universally bad.
