Having been renewed for six seasons already, Big Freedia obviously has struck a chord with fans and viewers all across the nation. May it be his self-confidence, his amazing energy or simply the fact that this person really doesn’t take no punches when it comes to putting himself out there, Big Freedia has become a big hit for the network. One of the reasons for the success could also be the fact that this series really doesn’t feed the otherwise all too usual drama queen stereotype, but instead portrays the person, dreams and fears behind this “character”. As the current season only just started, it might be a little early to ask for a renewal already. So far, the network has not yet released any official information regarding their plans for the future of the series. Series concept and production info
Big Freedia Bouncing Back (formerly known as Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce) is a popular reality television series on the network Fuse and hails from the production company World of Wonder. Fenton Bailey, Jeremy Simmons, Benjamin Hurvitz, Randy Barbato, and Chris McKim serve as executive producers, with Harris Fishman and Renee Moncada-McElroy co-executive producing. The series originally debuted back in 2013 and has since been renewed for overall six seasons, with the latest sixth season premiering on September 12th, 2017 with brand new episodes.
The series portrays Freddie Ross, an openly gay American musician from New Orleans, who prefers to refer to himself as “she” and is mostly known under the stage name of Big Freedia. He is credited with popularizing a purely New Orleans hip hop-influenced genre of bounce music. Before his work this did not have any mainstream exposure and Big Freedia's path to superstardom brought it the well-deserved attention.
