Series format and production info
Genealogy Roadshow is a PBS documentary/reality series on the air since 2013. It is produced by Public Broadcasting Service and Krasnow Productions and executive produced by Stuart Krasnow and hosted by Kenyatta D. Berry, Joshua Taylor and Mary M. Tedesco. The current third season has premiered on May 17, 2016.
The series portrays a diverse cast (selected through a casting process that anyone can enter on PBS website) from a number of different cities across the USA who wish to research their family history. The stories are both very personal and emotional, and important in their portrayal of a piece of American history that becomes revealed as the people discover significant details about themselves and their heritage. Experts featured on the show use historical documents, letters, family heirlooms and other sources and clues to solve the mysteries that they are presented with.

My dad mother was listed mulatto, and her mom Ella Sims Smith was white, but I’ve found my great grand grandmother in Red River Texas as 1/4 Chickasaw Indian. LETHA SMITH born 1845. My question why I’m showing 1% through 23andMe, and Ancestry, but when I uploaded my information to Geolink I’m showing 10% Native American.
As noted by others (above), that was the only genealogy show which featured the family stories of "ordinary" people instead of concentrating on celebrities.
I "inherited" the "mantle" of family historian/genealogist from a great-aunt and am especially anxious to find out, for my 90-year-old father, who are the parents, grandparents, etc., of our "most remote known ancestor" on his side of the family.
That "most remote known ancestor" is one Amos BARBER (b. prob. Hopkinton, Kings [Washington], RI ca. 1762. d. North Stonington, New London, CT after 17 February 1845).
Please, please give us a season 4, and beyond.
PBS best shows. So helpful and
Interesting. The opportunity to be
Involved to explore ones ancestry
