Can we petition the BBC to commission a 4th series of Upstart Crow. It is the best thing since Blackadder and deserves a proper conclusion. The BBC is currently making the most of its Shakespeare content and this would be a perfect addition.

Without any understanding of Scots culture- he wants to decide on what our culture is-and is not.
That’s what racists do. If you cannot see that from the links I posted- then you have the problem. Not the Scots. I have nothing further to say- sae dinny fash yersel

I was so disappointed this was cancelled-at first. Since then I’ve seen David Mitchell in a Youtube clip- ranting against and belittling Scotland and the Scots. I’ll never watch him again-which is a pity-as Upstart Crow was so funny- and the entire cast were marvellous.

What did he say about the scots? He IS a comedian so often, he’s just joking. Got a kink to the clip? I’d like to see it.

Ok- although this is the wrong platform for this discussion. Apologies to other readers.

I love comedians joking about Scots-and cheers loudly when we are called red haired maniacs in kilts-etc-
but when they step aside to actually comment-

This patronising article -
and his Youtube dismissal of the Scots language with purely colonialist attitudes.
Scots is NOT a dialect of English language- but a unique stand alone language that’s spoken and understood the length and breadth of Scotland.
We have several Scottish languages.

I though the episode of Crow -with the Macbeth story- was the best- so funny. And Scots love jokes about them- they cheer and laugh.

These articles and clip by David Mitchel are not jokes-but seriously insulting.

What lines in the editorial did you find insulting?

I get zero sense that he bears the Scots malice as a people. Quite the opposite. His opinion on the language may dovetail with colonialists but I don’t think he’s a colonialist either.

I’ve read his books and regularly read his articles and have seen him on tons of panel shows and I don’t think he’s a “bad man”.
