The Mother-Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition is produced by 495 Productions and executive produced by SallyAnn Salsano, Joel Zimmer, Eli Lehrer, Mary Donahue and Kimberly Chessier. The first season, which premiered on Lifetime on March 2, 2016, is slated to contain 8 episodes.
The series portrays six mother-daughter pairs who will go through intense on-screen therapy and strenuous psychological exercises while living in the same house over the duration of the show. Supposedly, this should lead them to more constructive and positive relationships. The notoriously traumatic and complicated relationships between mothers and daughters will be rebuilt under the guidance of Dr. Debbie Magids.
The women participating in the program are no strangers to television. They are Kim Richards (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and her daughter Kimberly Jackson, Heidi Montag (The Hills) and her mom Darlene Egelhoff, Nathalie Nunn (Bad Girls Club) and her mom Karen, Courtney Stodden and her mom Krista, Shar Jackson (Moesha) and her daughter Cassie and Jessica Canseco (Hollywood Exes) and her daughter Josie.
