About the series

Billion Dollar Wreck is a new American treasure hunting documentary TV series airing on the History Channel. It premiered on February 8, 2016 and hails from Original Productions and Platinum Dunes Productions. The series contains eight one-hour episodes.

The series follows Martin Bayerle, who's made treasure hunting his life work, as he makes his second attempt to find what might be the most valuable sunken treasure ever. RMS Republic, one of the largest and luxurious ocean liners of the time, sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic ocean shortly after departing from the New York Harbor in January 1909. Bayerle's first attempt involving millions of dollars spent on an expedition in 1987 failed, leaving one participant dead, and one more in prison. Now Bayerle and his son Grant are assured that they know the exact location of the sunken ship with possibly as much as a billion in gold aboard.

Love the curse of Oak island it's my(and my family and friends as well) absolute favorite thing on TV and internet to watch and BDW is a close favorite! Please give us valued followers another season....both shows! It's good TV with everything in it that people look for.... Suspense ethics I could go on but you get the message... hopefully!

Ultra Deep Subsea has entered into an agreement to supply a DP Vessel with Twin Bell, ROV's, Diving personnel and Supervision to Salvage the RMS Republic. This will be a Challenge for UDS. We will be using one of our new vessels delivered in 2016 Q4 for this high profile Salvage. We estimate for the complete salvage will take 3 to 5 months.

Does the RMS really have a treasure on it. I don't know and don't care. I found the actual production of the show to be a cheap knock off of a MUCH MUCH BETTER "treasure" show. When the BDW team met to discuss strategy they even called the meeting place "the War Room" If Martin believes there is a treasure then I wish him luck finding it. If the show does come back for another season I for one will NOT be bothered watching it. If you want a GOOD treasure show try The Curse of Oak Island. They have a real War Room. Between BDW and Oak Island there is NO COMPARISON. Oak Island wins hands down when it comes to being the best show. I also believe that they will solve the mystery soon on Oak Island, a mystery that is at least 221 years old with links to events that happened long before that. Check it out and make up your own mind.

Even though I am just a fan of Oak Island as you (and btw, haven't heard if they are renewed...?), I also enjoy/value BDW. How is it "cheap"? You're comparing apples and oranges anyway... Two totally different scenarios. And I dare say that there's actually far more evidence that there's treasure on the ship than anything (at least anything left) on Oak Island. (Plus that show *always* leaves you hanging!)

Anyway, I see no need to compare the shows -- just enjoy both! :-)

Maybe they should raise the remaining steel with salvage balloons then sift through the goodies ! At this rate they may only get a few artifacts ! Or get military involved for a cut in the pie ! Obviously they are a little to deep and there tether I bit short to manuver through nooks and crannies ! Get rid of the structure the dive in ? Just a thought

I enjoy the show. I enjoy the hunt and the underwater wreck search. I have grown weary and no longer appreciate or want to hear about Martin and his personal life. It is a relevant part of the story and I appreciate the determination he has show but it I don't care to hear about it every show.

I would love to see a second season that is all about the search for the treasure and artifacts.

Season 2 .... #ell yes. How can you not be drawn into a modern day treasure hunt ..... and Martin Bayerle , with a history like his ...... the story writes itself . Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Good quality TV. Very suspenseful with human factors element as an added touch. Wish there were more shows like it. For those of us who consider sports and TV sit coms as meaningless dribble, please renew this show for a second season :-) .

I definitely don't fall within the demographics and target audience for Billion Dollar Wreck. I'm a 62yr old woman and I loved the show. I would be disappointed if they do not get the opportunity for a second season. I think they have a lot more to work on and to reveal. Please consider giving them a second season. This is an interesting and educational program, I enjoyed it a lot.
