Born Again Virgin is an American romantic comedy-drama television series broadcast on TV One since August 5, 2015, with the pilot episode debuting on July 28, 2015. On December 8, 2015 the second season aired. The series is created by Ranada Shepard, is produced by Swirl Films and executive produced by Ranada Shepard, Eric Tomosunas, Lamar Chase and Tia A. Smith.

The comedy series is set in Atlanta and follows a 30-something female blogger Jenna (Danielle Nicolet) who decides to become celibate after a series of unsuccessful romantic involvements. Kelly (Meagan Holder) and Tara (Eva Marcille) are her close friends, and Donovan (Durrell “Tank” Babbs) is her neighbor and love interest.

Ratings and renewal prospects

The series' pilot aired to a 419,000 audience, with the first episode audience count dropping to 264,000. The second season's ratings dropped significantly, with the season premiere viewership at 169,000. The viewers are happy with quality storylines, relatable characters, funny dialogues and the provocative premise. There has not been much advertisement for the program, which might be the reason behind the less-than-amazing ratings. Meanwhile, IMDb viewers gave Born Again Virgin a score of 8.5/10, and it seems that the network may very well renew it for another season, considering the fast renewal for a second run prior to the completion of the first. However, it may go either way, so the best thing to do is to stay tuned for network announcements. We will be sure to inform you if the series' future as soon as it becomes clear.

UPDATED June 25, 2016: TV One's romantic comedy series Born Again Virgin has found a fan following, but turned out that it is not quite large enough for the show to go on. The network has decided to cancel the program after just two seasons, most likely due to the fact that the ratings have dramatically declined in the second chapter. Even though the series had its moments, there will not be a third season. Farewell, Born Again Virgin.

I know this probably too late, I'm soooo tired of not having great African-American shows has to be in large ratings status every episode, when white shows can be awlful and last for years!! I'm really going to miss this show. It was witty, fun and cute, we need it and more like it.

I am very disappointed that this series has been cancelled. The characters were very entertaining and I enjoyed watching every episode. I don't understand why is it so hard to keep a good TV series on that represents what the majority of us look like.

Wow! This is so unfortunate to hear that this great show has been cancelled! The show was seriously under advertised! Why is it that all the shows that feature us in the most negative, ratchet images and stereotypes are so heavily advertised but good, positive shows like this don't get the attention they deserve?? Shame on TVOne for subscribing to the media mediocrity!

This was a great show with very positive energy. The chemistry if the characters seem natural. TV One dropped the ball on this one. Hopefully BAV will become available on DVD. The network should cancel some of those reality shows.

I was worried this would happen and I guess I was right. I loved the show and watched it, but I happened upon it late one night. It was barely promoted - really not until towards the end of S2 did I actually happen upon ads for the show. There was already an obvious lull to the season, so I knew it was a last ditch ploy to say "hey, we promo'd and your numbers still dropped." Lame. Everyone I mentioned the show to did not know about it, even in S2 - which is a shame. It was well done, Tank - surprisingly - wasn't too bad but the Lawyer was really great to discover. It should have gotten a 3rd season.

What an absolute disappointment! BAV was a wonderful show with mass appeal (including Tank's gentlemans' performance as the "good friend"). I anticipated a Season 3. And so... it's a sad day when networks compromise for gain.

I loved this show and I can't believe they cancelled it. There is not enough good quality shows out there showing us in a positive light. I was so anticipating its return and so sad to see it go. I too noticed not enough advertisements was shown for others to notice it.

Oh come on now!!! for real??? You decided to cancel one of the better comedies on tv? Bring it back. Give the show a chance. If not then at least make a movie surrounding the story line and give the fans an ending to the budding romance that Jenna and Donovan are embarking on. You can't just leave us hanging like this.

I'll admit it took a second to warm up to it but when I did I really enjoyed it. I was turning friends on to it. Always cancelling the good shows but won't stop reality tv for nothing. Want to do fans a favor? Bring the show back and get rid of the reality t.v. and ALL the non stop reruns. Please and thank you.

I am sad to hear that born again virgin is cancelled. It was masterfully executed. I wish the air time was earlier. I constantly missed it because it came on so late. This was the best new show of all ofcthe bew shows. So sad that the 4 talented actresses are out of work.

If they cancelled this show, I'll be devastated. I don't watch much tv, but I'm always anxious to watch born again virgin. It's hilarious, they don't go off of what we want. Because if they did, they wouldn't cancel this show, it's not many good shows on now a days. But this a great show that always leaves me anxious for the next episode

I love this show and can not believe TV One has decided to cancel the show. This was actually the Best show that they had going for them. All they do is show low budget reality shows, old movies and re-runs of shows that you can watch when they first air on another channel. We need to have more Positive Black Shows and this was one of them!! Hopefully another smart network will pick them up.
