About the series
Appalachian Outlaws is a docu-series reality show that spotlights the life and work of diggers, growers and middlemen who harvest and trade ginseng in the Appalachian Mountains. Produced for the History Channel by Original Productions, the series initially debuted on January 4, 2014 with the second season premiering on February 2, 2015.
For centuries the mountainous landscape of the Appalachians has been a cultural barrier, shielding its inhabitants from the influences of the outside world. But a precious crop grown in the region — ginseng— stirs up a frenzied race to harvest during its short two-month growing season. At the heart of the show are ginseng buyers and competitors, Tony Coffman and Corby Patton. In Appalachian Outlaws, whoever controls the ginseng, controls the mountains — and night Coffman nor Patton are not afraid to get down and dirty to show who’s the real king of the hill.
Current season and possible renewal
In season 2 of Appalachian Outlaws, viewers got a rare glimpse at what it takes to acquire and trade ginseng. From diggers to growers to buyers, every day is a matter of survival for those who make their living trading this rare root. Fans followed Tony as he struck the biggest deal of his life — a new client who placed a 2000 pound order. Meanwhile his biggest competitor Corby will stop at nothing to topple Tony’s empire and rise to the top. With a 5.4 out of 10 rating on IMDb, its highly likely that the network will decide to give the show another chance with a possible renewal of Appalachian Outlaws season 3. Fans will have to stay tuned for more updates.

I can understand why it wasn't renewed though. I don't really think it had anything to do with ratings.
Maybe the actual situation of the ginseng, how long it took to mature. Plants being stolen after they were discovered. People who watched maybe trying their luck at ginseng hunting. You never know.
I do know that the plants aren't cheap. And it takes a long time for them to mature to a proper growth. The older the better, so maybe, just maybe there is a legit reason for not renewing Appalachian Outlaws. But if you are not renewing because of ratings, then History channel, you are full of [censored]. I know it's better than 4.5 out of 10. Where are your rating tallies coming from??
something about the show, I do NOT believe its all staged
they "act" too well, for it to be all made up
I would love to go to WVA and meet the actors
I relate to them, because of some mountain experiences I had
and the beauty of the hills...even though I am not from the hills!
Its a fun show, even if I have to watch reruns....BRING BACK THE NEXT ROUND OF SHOWS!
Soon
