About the series
Salem is an original scripted supernatural drama series loosely based on the Salem Witch Trials and tells the story of a powerful witch who initiates hysteria among the puritans with her wicked plans. Created by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, the show debuted on WGN America on April 20, 2014 and the third season premiered on November 2, 2016. Beetlecod Productions and Fox 21 Television Studios are behind the production.
Set in the small community of Salem, Massachusetts in the 17th century, the show re-tells the story of the Salem Witch Trials from the perspective of the witches. Staring Janet Montgomery as Mary Sibley, and Shane West as Captain John Alden, Salem features their epic romance among the horror, hysteria and despair that has swept the town. Fans continue to tune in to see the unfolding historical drama and follow the beloved central characters. The current season kicked off with the devil brought to Earth by the witches as planned, but from that point on the witches' plan doesn't quite work out according to their ideas. Will all humanity be destroyed, or is there a chance that the devil's mother Mary Sibley will be able to beat him?

The third and final season of WGN America's Salem has come to an end on January 25, 2017. The 10-episode season went out with 0.23 million viewers tuning in, almost the season (and the series) low, which only proves that the show really was losing ground with fans and did come to the end of the road. The final episode, Black Sunday, was abound with multiple deaths. Anne Hale became the ruler of Salem after a killing spree that included her mother among the victims. Mary's body was returned to her, and she left Salem hand in hand with John Alden. Thus ends the dynamic supernatural series that was provocative and entertaining. There's no indication that Salem may be picked up by another network, so this is probably a real farewell.

UPDATED December 14, 2016: The current season of WGN Salem is bound to be the series' last, and the creators seem to have been well prepared for such a twist in the supernatural series' fate. They are hinting at a satisfying conclusion of the series when the latter part of the third season wraps up. The last five explosive episodes are supposed to conclude the storyline of the supernatural series in a way that should satisfy the fans to at least some extent following the cancelation announcement. WGN's breakout hit turned out to be short-lived, but, hopefully, its conclusion will bring the show to a well-rounded end for the passionate fans.

UPDATED December 16, 2016: Time to mark your calendars, Salem fans - the remaining four episodes of the truncated 10-episode third season of Salem will begin airing on January 4, 2017, WGN has announced. The trailer clearly shows that Mary and John will be joining forces with Cotton Maher, Isaac and Sebastian Marburg in their desperate efforts to prevent Salem's destruction. Tune in and savor the last episodes of the final season of the supernatural thriller!

Love it, but just watching season 3.I was going through some things and didn't know they had season 3 until recently ?
Each episode has left me craving for more.
Mary has brought a new face to what Evil should look like. A Witch that still is captive to her once Humanity., Outstanding!!
