Amish Haunting is an American mystery / documentary television series airing on Destination America. It is created by Eric Evangelista, narrated by Anthony D. Call, produced by Hot Snakes Media and executive produced by Eric Evangelista, Shannon Evangelista, Sara Helman and Mark Marabela. The series premiere took place on September 14, 2014.
The series revisits paranormal experiences in the Amish community. The events are reenacted by actors, as the Amish tradition prohibits photographing people. The episode plots include an Amish woman delivering a goat baby, sighting of an Amish witch ghost, a faceless doll that attracts the devil into the house of an Amish family and other questionable events.
Viewer reception and chances of renewal
Amish-related documentary, and not-so-documentary, series have been appearing regularly on various networks. Just by virtue of being on screen the Amish provide an additional visual flourish to any subject matter. It could be Amish cooking, Amish gardening, or, as in this case, Amish hauntings. Mysterious hauntings have always been compelling, and they are now repackaged into the Amish wrapping. The series has been suspected of being a fake, or at least exaggerated as far as the paranormal events described are concerned. Moreover, there are numerous inaccuracies in describing the traditional daily life of the conservative Amish people. There has been no news on a renewal or a cancelation of the series, although its chances of coming back seem slim.
