I am going to Oxford on 23rd May until 27th of May I hope they are still fiming then hopefully i will have some luck and see Shaun Evans. because i have no idea how long it takes to film three episodes. i will be devastated if don't see him espcially after traveling from North Wales. so hopefully i will. i am really excited.
The countdown begins for the filming of Endeavour Series 9 with only 5 days to go from today (Wednesday 11 May 2022), 4 days to go on Thursday, 3 days to go on Friday, 2 days to go on Saturday and only 1 day to go on Sunday, before the big day kicks off on Monday 16 May 2022 in Buckinghamshire, with Endeavour S9F1 to kick off the filming process, followed by Endeavour S9F2 in June and finally Endeavour S9F3 in July.
Can’t wait to see the main Endeavour boys, Shaun Evans (Morse) and Roger Allam (Thursday) back in action, plus James Bradshaw, Anton Lesser, Sean Rigby, Caroline O’Neill, Sara Vickers and Abigail Thaw.
Thank you for all the information about Series 9! I am also very excited that filming has finally been confirmed. Are you expecting to watch some of the filming and do you happen to know which dates they will be filming in Oxford? We are planning to spend a few days in Oxford over the summer months and it would becherst if they coincided with some Endeavour filming. Many thanks!
I think Endeavour will get promoted to Detective Chief Inspector and i think it is something we should all see it will be a very proud moment for Endeavour and for us as well if we see it about time he had a promotion he works very hard doing his job. As for DCI Fred Thursday i don't think he should be killed off because i like Fred and it would be very sad for us to watch i think he should just retire gracefully and enjoy the rest of his retirement with his wife. can't wait to see Endeavour hopefully i will be going to Oxford around the time they will be filming.
Love it and have series 7, watched them all again and have watched Inspector Morse loads of times, will love it when Endeavor finally catches up with him being Inspector Morse. Hate it that we have to wait so long. We have Lewis as well and have watched the series several times too.
I love this series, I love Sean and Roger, they are great actors....I even look at the last series over and over...I'm too old for Sean but I think I am in love with Roger Allam.
Endeavour Series 8 Episode 1 will be directed by Shaun Evans while Endeavour Series 8 Episode 2 will be directed by Ian Aryeh and Endeavour Series 8 Episode 3 will be directed by Kate Saxon.
Endeavour Series 8 will be best ever but compelling possibly the last ever edition of Endeavour.
There will be 3 episodes in Endeavour Series 8, the same number of episodes in the previous series of Endeavour, Endeavour Series 7 and it will be set in 1971.
I think that DCI Fred Thursday (Roger Allam) will be killed off in the end rather than retire and DS Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) becomes DCI Endeavour Morse.
Endeavour Series 8 will have the following key points: The Postal Workers’ Strike of 1971, Decimalisation Day and the marriage of Joan Thursday to Jim Strange.
All 3 episodes for Endeavour Series 8 will be set in 1971. The Endeavour Series 8 Episodes are as follows:
The Series 8 of Endeavour will have 3 episodes and it will be set in 1971. Shaun Evans and Roger Allam will reprise heir roles as DS Endeavour Morse and DI Fred Thursday respectively. The Series 8 episode titles will be (S8 E1, Octave) (S8 E2, Lazarus) and (S8 F3, Flowers). It will hopefully be the last ever edition and the final ever episode sees when Shaun Evans morphs into John Thaw.
A wonderful series….I'm happy the way series 6 ended. A bright spot in television. Cheers! GTJOEY1314 P.S. Thanks for bringing back the Jaguar Mark 1 , Hopefully soon the Mark 2 will appear.
This is an awesome drama, crime show.I hope they give George's girlfriend the news that they unraveled who killed him and in one of the episodes maybe she'll return to join the team again.I hope they have a lot more series to come. All the actors work well together.I even like Doc.he's cool n funny at times.Hard to find good shows like this.Hope all the cast stays on board for the long haul. The writers of this keeps you also on your toes about who did the crimes as well.Keep up the good work and keep folks guessing who did it.To me that goes hand n hand good story and good actors. Thanks for all the hard work that ya'll do for your watchers out here.
So far I have watched the series over and over. British viewers you are blessed to have. this programmings. the actors the cast. everything about Endeavour. it keeps you on suspense.
I wish all British viewers lots of pleasure next Sunday watching season 6 of this wonderful series Endeavour. I am a bit sad because I still have to wait some months before I can watch it.
Brilliant series but I'm a bit annoyed at the amount of episodes there are in a series! Think it's actually better than the original Morse and really enjoy the character's evolution! Can't wait for the next series!
I am unsure as to what you mean? As a small critique: Since this entire series of DCI Morse and the prequels are set at Oxford, a community of colleges that rank the very best in the ENGLISH speaking world, the grammatical error in your comment is beyond the pale. Even Philip Hathaway, a groundskeeper and father to DI James Hathaway of the Inspector Robbie Lewis was always correcting himself so that he could speak better English by taking classes at the Adult Education classes in Oxford. We all met him in “Prey.”
I am “a bit annoyed” that used the qualifier “amount” when proper English word would be “number” of episodes. You could say: The “amount” of ice cream and cake eaten was unbelievable. Therefore it’s“the NUMBER of episodes” not the “amount."
The pilot episode of “Endeavour” was only meant as a “one off” to show that Inspector Morse was an alumni of Oxford albeit the fictional Lonsdale College.
The first seasons of Endeavour were four 90 minute shows a year.
Then ITV told the show runner that more episodes were wanted. So the producers increased the NUMBER of episodes to six shows each year.
As with many BBC series, it’s normal to have only 4-6 shows such as "Happy Valley,” a SMASHING criminal procedural which has six per season.
These 90 minute to two hour shows are as involved as a full length movie with multiple locations, many new characters and MULTIPLE plots! In the US shows are only 41 minutes long. “Friends” barely has one plot, small number of recurring actors and shot in only a few indoor settings such as each apartment and the bar.
Endeavour takes you all over the Oxford campus, the police department, even London. Each episode is essentially a discrete movie! MANY new characters and multiple crossing plot lines. Equivalent to six “movies” each season!
Not so smart yourself Nuschler - shouldn't it be 'the' proper English word not proper English word? Amount/number - who honestly cares in a small commentary on a TV series? Get a life!
British TV drama at its best! Well scripted; excellent characters; Colin Dexter appearing in person or in portrait, and something to look forward to in a world from which one often needs to escape – even if only for a short time for some R & R!
Fabulous show good actors, Series five absolutely cracking plots My only gripe is we have to wait 12 months for the next series. Well done everyone in the cast and the writers.
Actually it’s more like waiting 10 months between each season but the shows are VERY complex. I’ve gone back and watched them again and again and each time I find I have missed crucial set points! So many different plots and new characters involving more outdoor settings whether the river that
Weekly TV shows are shot in their entirety EACH WEEK! Thus they can complete 21 to 25 shows each season...then go on hiatus.
In Endeavour we get to know the back story of each character! Side stories such as “Will Miss Thursday and our Endeavour EVER get together?” “Will Mrs. Thursday EVER forgive her spouse DI Fred Thursday for wiping out their retirement savings.”
Cast and crew of “Endeavour" work year round for these six 90 minute episodes. Each show has markedly more complex story lines than a weekly TV show. They work harder with many new locations, multiple criss-crossing new plot lines, and many new actors for each “movie."
Wonderful news that series nr. 6 will be filmed next year ? ? ? ? ? I can hardly wait to enjoy my favourite series. I wonder when series nr. 5 will brought on DVD in my country because I will be the first one to buy it. Missed it for almost a year! The actors, specially Shaun Evans, act wonderful Give them a big applause! I disagree with all the critics and wish them all the best, watching other programmes. Lots of succes on filming next year. Please bring some exiting new episodes of my favourite detective: Endeavour Morse. I wonder if it would be possible to join some days of filming wherever in good old England?
