About the series

American Restoration is an American reality television series broadcast on the History Channel since October 25, 2010. It was produced by Leftfield Pictures through season 6, and is executive produced by Brett Montgomery and Colby Gaines. The show has undergone a complete reboot in the cast as well as the concept for the current seventh season, which has recently aired on New Year's Day, January 1, 2016.

The first six seasons of American Restoration featured the daily life of Rick Dale's antique restoration shop in Las Vegas, Nevada, Rick's Restoration. Rick Dale, his teenage son and the shop staff specialize in restoring antique and vintage items to mint condition. Dale first appeared as an expert on Pawn Stars, and then his own spin-off from the series launched and was highly successful for a six-season run. The network has completely reinvented the series for the seventh season, which now focuses on five different restoration shops across the USA. Anything from vintage cars and bikes to household items from various time periods turn into awe-inspiring gems in the hands of these restoration masters.

Current season and chances of renewal

There's been serious criticism from the avid fans of Rick Dale, who's not featured in the seventh season, with many viewers angry, disappointed and plainly refusing to watch it. How will this season fare after this complete conceptual reboot? Will the audience's darling turn into a loser after the wrong turn taken by the network? We will just have to wait and see.

LOVED Rick Dale and the variety of restorations that came thru the shop. The only thing I disliked was the amount of screen time his new wife seemed to have for no apparent reason. I will never watch the new version so history can make money by opening AR "shops" across the country. A real loss.

Loved the original show so much I visited the shop when I hit Vegas. Dale and the two boys were there and were very gracious. The new show is such a dog, don't waste your oxygen on the new one.

The new American restoration is absolutely horrible.. I loved to watch every episode of Rick dale and his crew.. without the real American restoration the history channel is HISTORY as far as I am concerned!!!

Hopefully, the delay for airing Season 8 is a clue that History Channel is coming to their senses and will bring back Rick Dale. Enough said!!!

Rick Dale wasn't fired ... he wanted to quit saying that he didn't have time to spend working his business. After the production company took him at his word and found the other guys, Rick freaked out and started a campaign with his fans to destroy the new guys. If you watched his first season, his show was pretty slow and clunky too. It takes time to get people used to being in front of the camera. Had this group been given another season, they would have improved as well.

all i have to say is that i really enjoyed ricks show, i do not like what is on there now . it does not even come close to be as good as ricks show!!it always seems like that shows that have good entertainment get taken off the air!!!

Loved the new rebooted version of American Restoration with 5 different crews. Far more interesting than Rick Dale and his son. Never cared for them much and I don't miss them. Season 7 was a winner and I hope more of the same will come in season 8.

Wow, I've just read that Rick Dale's show has been dumped, I've been waiting for its return, both myself and my twin 12yr boys would sit and watch it all the time. Oh well looks like the history channel just got dumped from our home, that may not mean much I'm down under Australia big fan base here, hopefully they will dump H/Cas well. Or Here's a suggestion H/C bring Rick and the crew back, you were on a winner.

History channel decision to fire Rick Dale and his crew was plain and simple...stupid!! The 7th season with 5 different people...what the hell were they thinking! Here you have a successful show with great personalities and totally turned it around and made it one of the worst shows on their channel. Bring Rick Dale and his crew BACK!! They are American Restoration !!

Ever since they took Rick Dale's American Restoration off the History channel I have never watched The History channel again. Wake up History Channel !!! You had a good wholesome show on TV, why would you change it. Just another way to show that there is no more loyalty in corporate America. Use you and abuse you, then throw you too the side. I really hope History Channels rating are down. I will not return until the bring back Rick Dale. I used to watch history Chanel 24/7. Bring back Rick Dale's American Restoration !!!!!!!!!!!
