About the show

Hillbilly Blood is a reality TV show that follows the fascinating characters and deep-rooted traditions of Appalachian life. The documentary is filmed in the backwoods of Cold Mountain, N.C. and has been airing for five seasons on Destination America since it’s premiere in September 18, 2012. Season five returned on May 2, 2015 for a ten episode run.

Eugene Runkis and his mountain brother Spencer “Two-Dog” Bolejack unlock the secrets to survival, peeling back the cover to reveal a lifestyle that’s steeped in tradition and ancestral pride. A sort of Hillbilly MacGyver guide to survival, living off of the natural resources that the land and mountains offer. Joined by their friendly neighbor Cowboy, who’s got celeb status from his role in “Deliverance”, the three showcase their wilderness experience and often unsolicited, but valued opinions.

Current season, reviews and ratings

In the current season of Hillbilly Blood, Eugene and Spencer are asked to fortify Cowby’s compound with the capacity to turn wood into fuel. With a 7.5 out of 10 rating on IMDB, the show’s ratings are vastly unavailable. Fans have appreciated the rugged lifestyle and breathtaking scenery featured in the show, and have been waiting patiently for a possible renewal of Hillbilly Blood season 6. The network has made no formal announcements, but we’ll have all the updates on the fate of the show right here and via our automatic notification.

Hillbilly Blood is a great show....as media crams The Green Effect” recycling down our throats, you’d think they would support this show. After all, it makes you think like times gone by... people losing minds of their own. This show is good wholesome entertainment

A lot of old fashion, common sense ideas, to repair, replace, or renew items in every day life of command folk. Things that can save or make people money.

These 2 boys, who can take nothing and build something useful, have probably forgotten more than most will ever know.

I have really enjoyed watching this show. I keep waiting for a new episode. Keep all the old ones on DVR. I think I love it so much because it brings back some old memories and nostalgia of the way things used to be. And a lot better show for Destination America than some guys out in the woods hollering for Bigfoot and other made up creatures that they haven't got one bit of evidence on yet!

There isn't anything fake about living off the land son and you should try it once you grow up. In fact I've done some of the things they've done and they work.

You have some wonderful programming, however my favorite is Hillbilly Blood. It has lessons to learn through every episode, and at 69 yrs I am still learning the Mountsin Ways here in Tennessee. Please return it to the programming schedule.

Sorry about the Runkis family lost , We will be greatly disappointed iif there isn't a season 6 of Hillbilly Blood., this show is a show that takes you away from the presidential B,S, that worries everyone in the country , The mountain people have a wonderful way of living and should be a inspiration to the political parties we have , I have experienced this way of life and teach it to whoever has an interest , Destination America your my absolute favorite t.v. channel.. I look forward to coming home from my late nitght job and unwinding with your programs .

I hate to hear about Mama Runkis's death. My condolences to the Runkis family. I am a huge fan of the show, and live in the Appalachian Mountains myself, albeit on the Tennessee side. I wish that Hillbilly Blood would continue and Destination America would renew for at least another season. However, I understand that the television business is dog-eat-dog and can understand Spencer and Eugene's displeasure with the rights and all of that. However, I wish the stars would align and things could work out. This show proves that Hillbilly's aren't stupid, and can be quite ingenious when it comes to alot if things. Please bring back Hillbilly Blood. Great show, and I would love to buy a knife from Spencer and Eugene.

Bad news. I know and have known Eugene and his wife before the show, we are close and since his mother passed he has moved to Florida. Last time I spoke to them about the show, it has been cancelled or at least no immediate plans for any new shows. I also know there was a slight issue about rights and both Eugene and Spencer were displeased with the production company, but they would have made new episodes if with new contracts.
