Show info and concept

This exciting American reality and documentary series is currently on the air on Destination America, a network that's dedicated to exploring and celebrating various inspiring places within the US. Railroad Alaska is produced by Windfall Films and executive produced by Carlo Massarella, David Dugan and Caroline Perez. Demetri Goritsas is the narrator.

Lives of homesteaders and off-the-grid families living in Alaska along the 500-mile Alaskan railroad along with the lives of the expert train crew struggling to deliver various, sometimes life-sustaining, freight across under the most dangerous conditions are at the center of this inspiring series. The majestic Alaskan scenery serves as the backdrop for the everyday feats of the people portrayed. There are always unexpected situations, unbearable weather, delays, dangerous animals crossing paths with the characters, and whatever else living the American dream in the wilderness might entail.

I really don't understand stand why they cancelled this program. It is one of the best ones in a long time.I and my family has really enjoyed watching this program so very much. Its awesome to see how the off griders live and survive and watching the railway is nail biting at times when things happen or go wrong.I really wish that they would bring it back

I hope the show renews for several more seasons. Learning about how the railroad operates & stays in-service is quite interesting. Also, the stories involving the off-griders are well worth watching & learning from. The show really gives a good insight as to what it might take for someone to live without "all the creature comforts". I know this has changed my mind in regards to traveling to see Alaska. I've traveled traveled to many places around the world during my military career and not once, was I concerned about seeing what my own country had to offer. shows like this & deadliest catch etc. has opened a new door to visiting in my own back yard. P.S.- if you need to cancel something, start with "Mountain Monsters".

Please renew the show. We love Jim and Nancy and watching their life. It would be a shame to cancel this show. My family enjoys it and have been awaiting Season 4 since we have been watching since season 1. The scenery is amazing and we love learning about what off grid life is like.

I hope Railroad Alaska is renewed! I love their trips through the bush, and, really enjoy seeing how important the RR is to the homesteaders. The segments with the homesteaders really helps to make the show. I'd prefer to see 1/3 railroad and 2/3 homesteaders. But, keep the RR as it's an important part of the off griders lives.

I really enjoy Railroad Alaska, especially segments on the off-gridders. Seeing their resilience and determination to make their homesteads safe for their families is inspiring. The Alaska Railroad workers add another point of view to the show which is interesting to see. How they meet the challenges of weather, a bear in the tunnel, frozen switches etc. is good television. I look forward to seeing new episodes in the near future. The ghost hunting shows are boring and most likely total fiction. The exception is Ghost Brothers which adds humor and likeable people doing the ghost hunting. I sincerely hope Destination America will air new episodes of Railroad Alaska. If the railroad is no longer interested, shift the focus to the off-gridders. That will not only create an expanded fan base but also help to build ratings. I miss the adventures of Jim & Nancy, Dan, JT, Orville & Jackie and Roger's wonderful smile and innovative ways.
