Series info and storyline
Samurai Jack is a US adventure chanabara cyberpunk animated series that ran from 2001 to 2004 on Cartoon Network. It has received great critical acclaim and many important awards, including Emmy and Annie Awards. Reruns of the action fantasy animated series have been shown on Boomerang, and then on the Adult Swim's Toonami rerun block. And just recently, on December 2, 2015, to the delight of the many fans the network made an announcement that a new season was supposed to be broadcast on Adult Swim's Toonami in 2016, but was then pushed back to March 11th, 2017, when the fifth and final season finally came to our screens.
Samurai Jack follows the unlikely adventures of a world-saving samurai in a time warp. From the distant past, a samurai sets out on a mission to defeat Aku, the demon master of shape-shifting and finds himself in the far dystopian future. Thereafter his adventures continue, as he fights to destroy evil in the world.
Overall ratings and no more seasons after this one
Gennady Tartakovsky, the original creator and executive producer of the cult series, also worked on this last season, which sort of guaranteed great ratings due to its excellent quality. After all, he is very well known for his work in animation, which tends to be artsy, imaginative and straight out funny. And Samurai Jack is exactly that. Unfortunately, this fifth installment is also the last for this very popular series, as the storyline apparently has ran its course. But there is always hope that the series might return anyways, especially with such incredible ratings as a solid 8.4 out of 10 stars on IMDb, an even stronger 8.8 out of 10 on TV.com and a whopping 98% approval rating by Google Users overall.
