About the show
Legends is an American criminal drama television series based on a Robert Littell book Legends: A Novel of Dissimulation that is currently airing on TNT. The show was developed by Howard Gordon, Jeffrey Nachmanoff and Mark Bomback and originally premiered on December 4, 2014.
Martin Odum (Sean Bean) is an undercover FBI agent who creates completely new identities for himself in each of the cases he is involved in, and as a result struggles with his own identity issues at times when there's no need for him to turn into someone else. Besides Odum's seemingly endless identity crisis, there are the cases themselves, as well as his relationships with various colleagues and family for the viewers to direct their attention to. The first season of Legends was deemed too straightforward and generic, as well as generally disappointing, especially considering the compelling book at its source.
In spite of the mixed or average critical reviews and lukewarm ratings that the fist season has received, TNT decided to go on with the second season, completely re-imagining the series. All but Sean Bean's lead character has changed, as the protagonist was deemed by the critics to be the show's only valuable asset. The series' structure has become more complex, since there are now two parallel storylines to follow – set 15 years apart in London and Prague. The critics and viewers alike have actually warmed up to the all-new second season, but it is no quite clear yet whether the rekindled interest is strong enough for the network to make a decision to renew Legend for yet another season.

Updated December 17, 2015: The plug has been pulled on TNT's action drama starring Sean Barry as a disguised FBI agent. Legends' ratings haven't been particularly strong even in the freshman season last year, as its Nielsen same-day numbers averaged 1.53 million viewers and a 0.32 rating in the adult demographic. The second season viewership slid to 1 million people and a 0.267 rating in 18-49, in spite of a complete overhaul done between the first two seasons. The series will wrap up on December 28, 2015.
