About the show

The new Canadian sexy spy thriller series The Romeo Section premiered on CBC Television on October 14, 2015. It was created and written by Chris Haddock, a highly acclaimed author of intelligence drama series, co-authored by Jesse McKeown and consists of 10 episodes. The show is executive produced by Haddock, Laura Lightbown, Stephen Surjik and David Frazee. The second season of the popular show debuted on October 14, 2016.

Seduction is the key to the activities of the Canadian Intelligence Community's Romeo Section, inexistent for all official purposes. The so-called Romeo and Juliet assets are informants who are involved in intimate relationships of various duration with the targets of interest to the intelligence service. Wolfgang McGee (Andrew Airlie), a professor, an almost-retired Romeo asset and the head of the Romeo Section pulls the strings as he manages the work of his staff. Their work is the mundane spy stuff – murder, drug lords, corruption, lies. The second installment, which also contains 10 one-hour installments, features an investigation in the wake of a terrorist attack, with McGee looking into an attempted bombing in Vancouver together with an old friend Norman

Reviews and chances of renewal

The show is more of a psychological thriller than an action-packed one, an intricate mystery for a thoughtful viewer, but never dull or lacking in action where it's needed. Reviewers seem to agree that the all-pervading sense of danger is formidably portrayed and gripping. The series' creators consider it cutting-edge television, especially for Canada, in terms of the subject matter and the level of explicitness involved. The Romeo Section received very positive reviews from the critics, earned a 7/10 IMDb score, and the audience has been enthusiastic about the show as well. If this tendency continues we may very well expect to see a renewal of the series for season three announced in the near future.

I’ve been a fan of Chris Haddock since DaVinci Inquest, City Hall, Intelligence, and now The Romeo Section! Since I’m not Canadian, it’s been harder to be able to watch them, but I persevered, and was rewarded with a tremendously entertaining series! I know in America how expensive these shows cost, and even though these were filmed mostly in Vancouver, the costs must have skyrocketed lately, otherwise there definitely would have been a Season 3! I hope you get the chance someday to finish the series in television or as a movie. Until then I’ll patiently wait for your next endeavor! You are a Canadian treasure!

What's wrong with the CBC! Intelligence was cancelled way back and you left us hanging. What a superb fast paced spy story set in Vancouver. And now 'The Romeo Section'!!
Who's running the store? Your public are furious.
Chris Haddock, you are a genius. I watched and was riveted to every episode of 'intelligence' on Netflix recently. Maybe that's your new home. ?

Lets face it, Canadians just do not expect a show this good. This show is sophisticated and enthralling and just as good as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. So lets give it a go in a third season and all of the people who support its great production and acting, will use all of the Social media to support it!

It would be a crying shame if another great Canadian production disappeared.

What a bunch of muppets at CBC !!

This was one of the better shows on TV and the subtlety worked Ina way that no other series did, even if it is missing a bit of the hard edge and grit of an American made series.

Shame on you CBC for not renewing this. Sometimes you have to wonder what idiots make these decisions.....

The powers that be deemed it too revealing and realistic. It's growing popularity became worrisome. The masses must be kept dumbed down. American style movies and shows are ideal for this.

Great cast, and casting, for the Romeo Section. Enjoyed seeing Vancouver, B.C. Good story line. First class series. Hope we get a Season 3. -- Nanaimo, B. C.

I also thought Intelligence was one of the best CBC series, and was glad to discover Romeo Section. I just found out about season 2. Finally, another serious CBC thriller series that actually takes place in Canada. So looking forward to it!

This better not be another series from CBC that gets me hooked and is then cancelled. I'm at the point where I won't bother to commit to a new show unless it makes it past the first season.
