With an overall approval rating of very strong 8.1 out of 10 stars on IMDb and a solid 6.2 out of 10 on TV.com, Murdoch Mysteries finds itself firmly in the category of very well liked crime shows. Overall, the series has held a very solid viewership throughout the series and still holds a viewership of around 1.25 Million viewers per episode. After now eleven seasons this is a pretty impressive development for the show and it looks very much like we will get to see a twelfth season too. As of today, the network CBC has not yet officially announced any plans for the future of the show. Stay tuned and we will keep you updated if and when Murdoch Mysteries returns with Series 12.
Storyline and cast
Murdoch Mysteries is a veteran Canadian historic criminal drama series that is based on the characters from the Maureen Jennings' novel series. Developed by R.B. Carney, Cal Coons and Alexandra Zarowny, the show is produced by Shattesbury Films, UKTV and ITV Studios Global Entertainment. Murdoch Mysteries originally debuted back in 2008 on the Canadian network Citytv with its very first season after a three movies aired in 2004 and 2005. Since then the show moved to its current destination CBC for its sixth season and has been renewed for overall eleven seasons, with the latest series 11 kicking off on September 25th, 2017 with 19 brand new episodes, which also includes the Christmas Special.
Detective Murdoch is a young servant of the Toronto Constabulary back in 1895. Being young and prone to everything new, he enjoys following latest technological advances and believes that many of them can be applied to solving crimes. Fingerprinting, blood testing, surveillance, you name it – Murdoch picks up on up-and-coming technologies quickly and shocks his colleagues and the criminals with his swift and brilliant means of solving challenging murder cases. Murdoch’s relationship with his wife Julia is also explored in depth.
