About the show
Manhattan is a US television period drama series created by Sam Shaw for WGN America. The show's concept is based on historical events that unfold as the Manhattan Project - a furtive race to build the nuclear bomb - is underway, while we have an opportunity to follow the personal affairs of the scientists brought together by the project. The first season debuted on July 27, 2014.
The series makes references to certain historical figures, but does not intend to be historically accurate, and most of the characters are fictional. Among them are Dr.Frank Winter (John Benjamin Hickey), Dr. Liza Winter (Olivia Williams), Dr. Charlie Isaacs (Ashley Zukerman), Abby Isaacs (Rachel Brosnahan), and many other men and women taking part in this grand-scale scientific project that will forever change the future of mankind. The atmosphere of paranoia and secrecy prevails as the melodramatic twists of the plot take their course. The families of the top-notch scientists who are relocated to Los Alamos, NM, are not informed of the details of the projects, but some information does inevitably leak, which creates family tensions for some.
Manhattan has received highly positive reviews from the critics for its tightly written storyline, talented cast and an eye for period detail held together by the impending doom of the historical time, however the viewing figures have been rather low. After the less-than-great start, the series evolved into something more solid and confident as it progressed into the second season. Will the third season get a green light by the WGN?

This was an intelligent show which attempted to tell historical truth about the end of WW II, the creation of the CIA, the true reason behind the nuclear race and the senseless killing of thousands of Japanese people. Challenging lies like "we had to race the Germans to a super-bomb" are courageous and I commend this network for trying to disseminate the truth. A third season to discuss the real reasons of nuclear holocaust on Hiroshima and Nagasaki would have been braver still......too bad and I hope they reconsider. There are so few smart people left in the world who demand smart television from the worlds writers; something to make the average mind think beyond their daily toil of propaganda........its seems that most people are just not interested in this.
