Summary and storyline
Monica the Medium is a new American reality and documentary TV series that pivots around a junior at Penn State University who moonlights as a medium. Produced by Dave Caplan’s Trooper Entertainment, in association with Lionsgate TV, season 1 of the series premiered on ABC Family, now rebranded as Freeform, on August 17, 2015. On October 26, 2015 the network renewed Monica the Medium for season 2 which premiered on April 25, 2016.
Not your average college student, Monica Ten-Kate has a fascinating gift — she can communicate with the deceased. She is also a junior at the prestigious Pennsylvania State University and is often faced with balancing her student life, friends, family and relationships with her rather unusual talent. Moonlighting as a medium, Monica taps into her talents to help bring comfort and closure to people who have suffered a loss of someone close to them. In the second season both the extraordinary and the mundane aspects in the life of this remarkable young woman come into the spotlight yet again, as the viewers follow her relocation to San Diego, California.
