Series storyline and cast
Guilt is an American mystery thriller drama television series that debuted on Freeform on June 13, 2016. The series hails from Wonder Monkey, Lionsgate Television and Freeform Original Productions with Kathryn Price, Nicole Millard and Stephen McPherson as executive producers. Price and Millard are also the creators of the show.
Daisy Head stars as Grace Atwood, an American student in London whose best friend and flatmate Molly Ryan is killed right in their shared apartment. Grace quickly becomes a suspect in the brutal murder case, since her footprints are found in the pool of blood around Molly's body. Grace's sister Natalie (Emily Tremaine) is an assistant D.A. from Boston who flies to London to support her sister and investigate along with London-based lawyer Stan Gutterie (Billy Zane). The main cast also includes Cristian Solimeno (D.S. Alex Bruno), Naomi Ryan (Gwendolyn Hall, Crown Prosecutor), Kevin Ryan (Patrick Ryan, Molly's brother), and others.
Reviews and renewal prospects
The reviews for Guilt are mixed to positive, it has a 5.8/10 IMDb score and a 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It premiered to 490,000 viewers, and slipped to 330,000 for the next two episodes. Most of the critics note that the flaccid dialogue, unrealistic actions and an overcomplicated storyline somehow add up to a rather entertaining criminal soap. The series' renewal is not looking like a high probability event at this point, but until Freeform announces its decision, we can never be sure. Stay tuned and we will be sure to keep you informed.
Season 1 recap
The jaw-dropping season finale of Freeform's new mystery thriller series Guilt concluded the broadcast of the first installment on August 22, 2016. The last episode revealed the identity of Molly's killer. Despite the previous seasons' heavy hints that it was Prince Theo, Luc turned out to be the one behind the heart-wrenching murder, and Roz actually blackmailed him into doing it. When Grace realizes what has happened, she confronts her housemate Roz and kills her in the heat of the moment. There's plenty of room for the story to develop, should Freeform choose to renew the show for another season. The decision has not yet been made, but the fans are pining for more. Viewership has not been particularly impressive, dipping after the series premiere (0.49 million viewers), staying rather low, and going out with an audience of 0.4 million viewers. Stay tuned, and we will be sure to keep you informed regarding the show's future.
Latest news
UPDATED October 21, 2016: There will be no second season of Guilt at Freeform, the network announced, with the cancelation decision most likely based on the uninspiring ratings, with an average of approximately 300,000 viewers per episode for most of the freshman installment. Season one finale left the viewers with several cliffhangers that have been fated to leave everything to the fans’ imagination. It revealed the identity of the killer, but lay ground for a potential next season, which is, unfortunately, not going to happen.
