Basic info and plot

The Good Wife is an American legal and political TV drama series that has received critical acclaim and won numerous awards, including the coveted Emmy and the 2014 TV Critics Association award. Created by Robert King and Michelle King, the show has been a hit since its series debut on CBS on September 22, 2009.

Starring the talented Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick, the wife of a once respected politician who was jailed following a notorious political corruption scandal, The Good Wife depicts the rise of a woman who, in the face of misfortune, has been able to rise and finally step out of her husband’s shadow. From the wife of a disgraced politician, to an unstoppable lawyer, Margulies’ portrayal of Alicia Florrick has earned her two Emmy awards in 2011 and 2014.

Season 7 of the The Good Wife returned to CBS on October 4, 2015 with a brand new season of dramatic twists and turns. Last season averaged more than 12 million viewers and the network certainly hopes that this season will not disappoint. So will fans get to follow The Good Wife season 8? Ratings will continue to play an important role, and so far they’ve been pretty stellar with an impressive 97% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. CBS has made no official announcements regarding a possible renewal, but we’re hoping that this show is sticking around past 2016.

A 22-part seventh and final chapter of the CBS network’s widely critically-acclaimed political drama series The Good Wife bowed out in the US on Sunday, May 8, 2016. The series finale has brought almost 11 million viewers to the small screen, while the season has delivered an average viewership of 8.4 million. Many were somewhat perplexed by the final minutes of the show because the expectation was that Alicia would run after Jason for a more pleasing ending. Instead, she got slapped by Diane, who basically became the collateral damage. The creators explained the slap by seeing Alicia essentially turning into her husband. UPDATED December 22, 2015: There is a lot of drama in the current season of The Good Wife, but there is more to come. The show is not over – it is taking a holiday break. The remaining episodes of season 7 of The Good Wife are scheduled to resume on the CBS channel on Sunday, January 10, 2016. The future of the critically acclaimed show is yet to be determined.

Updated February 8, 2016: The possible cancelation of The Good Wife that was rumored for the last few months has indeed confirmed by the CBS network on Sunday, February 7, 2016. After the creators and showrunners of the series Robert and Michelle King have reported that the current season will be their last one collaborating on the series' production, CBS had to decide whether the highly successful seven-year run of the show should be wrapped up or continued without them. Apparently, CBS decided that the time has come for the stylish and acclaimed drama series to gracefully bow out.

I have watched all episodes of The Good Wife, and was completely captivated…… why oh why didn’t the writers tie all the loose ends… it’s maddening..
Loved every twist and turn, excellent writing and actors were great..

Have been waiting patiently to find out when the new season for The Good Wife is to start only to be told by friends they think it is cancelled. Why would you cancel one of the best shows to put on some other boring garbage shows?

Can't believe there won't be another series. Why couldn't you have tied up all the lose ends of the characters we have loved and adored for all these years. Did they get divorced? Did Grace go to college? Did Alicia find peace with Jason? Did Alicia get a chance to slap Diane back? !! It was, however, great to see Will and Alicia together again, even if it was only in her mind. Tell you what, make a MOVIE !!!!

That Sucks you guys should allowed them to make season 7th to bring closure to the characters storyline.
Such a Good show with an ending (season 7) That did not make sense.

The ending of Season 7 raised more questions than it answered. Very unsatisfying. I know the show has had a long run, however, there have been enough plot twists and turns to keep it interesting. It is a letdown to have it end in what feels so abrupt. I hope there is a way to continue.

I hate it when shows end like this, it's like reading an epic story and the last few pages are missing. By our human nature we all require closure and with a series to end like this is extremely disappointing, they could at least have wrapped it up instead of leaving the story dangling in mid air, Disappointing.

I love this show and i think you should allow one more season so it can end with a full closure on all character's not just Alicia but Kerry Diana ect to have cancelled the show like this os just wrong and not fair on us who have been dedicated watchers of the good wife so come on make one more season then finish it or even allow maybe and extended one off to close it .

The Good Wife is THE BEST shows to TV. There is no other show I actually sit and watch without doing something else at the same time. CBS has had shows that have lasted 20 years. When you have something this good it seems some effort can be made to find episodes that would keep it alive.
