Storyline and cast
Scream Queens is a popular American horror comedy TV series created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, the series has an all-star cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Skyler Samuels and Lea Michele. The first season of the show premiered on Fox in September 2015, and season 2 followed on September 20, 2016.
Chanel Oberlin (Roberts) is a very popular and demanding president of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority, which is threatened by a seductive anti-sorority dean Cathy Munsch (Curtis). Grace Gardner (Samuels) pledges to bring the sorority back to its glory days, which is why she teams up with Pete (Diego Boneta), the campus newspaper editor, to attempt and solve the murders that take place at Wallace. The rest of the characters are a mix of sorority girls, fraternity womanizers and the ever-present awkward students who wish to be just like the first two groups. The stellar cast, including Jamie Lee Curtis, returned to reprise their roles, as most members of the key cast are said to hold multi-year contracts. In the sophomore installment the setting changed from a college campus to a hospital where strange medical cases are being explored.
Strong viewer support and renewal prospects
Scream Queens became Fox’s #1 new series in the freshman season, and continues to garner great viewer support. The series is set up in a format similar to American Horror Story, with the difference being that in the future seasons the surviving characters play the same roles. Season 2 opened with an audience of 2.17 million viewers, which is a significant decline from the first season viewership of 4.04 million viewers. Scream Queens received a slew of nominations, and earned several awards, including a People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy. Although Fox has not announced whether it will renew the show for another season, the ratings are still favorable and the storyline is suspenseful, which means that we will most likely see Scream Queens season 3 in the future.
Season 2 recap
On December 20, 2016 Fox's original comedy horror series Scream Queens has completed the broadcast of its second season, which has not delivered ratings as strong as the breakout freshman chapter. The last episode was Cassidy murdered by Nurse Hoffel, who was later sucked into a pond of quicksand and died. Elsewhere, Hester and Brock are off to Blood Island, with the money stolen from Dean Munsch. The last episode drew just 1.37 million viewers, a significant drop of over 1 million viewers compared to the last season finale, but despite this decline Fox is said to be considering the show for a third season commission as of mid-January 2017. The network officials announced that the semi-anthology show is still under consideration for a renewal. They explained that the low ratings are not completely informative due to the fact that the young target audience's delayed watching habits are not covered even by the L+3 numbers. My daughters (age 11 & 10) love scream queens. Anyways they thought it started back on tonight but gone through all channels and see it anywhere!. When will be on our screens, wot date, day, channel & time please.
