Apple decided not to renew its debut program Dear Edward for a second season.
Based on Ann Napolitano's novel of the same name, Friday Night Lights and Parenthood executive producer Jason Katims developed the television series. It was a result of Katims' overall contract with Apple Studios (he later switched to Imagine Television), and it brought Connie Britton from Friday Night Lights back together with him.
The film Dear Edward depicts the story of 12-year-old Edward Adler (Colin O'Brien), who escapes a tragic commercial airline crash that kills all of the other passengers, including his family. Unexpected friendships, loves, and communities emerge as Edward and a diverse group of other victims of the catastrophe attempt to make sense of life after the crash.
