Jared Abrahamson, known for his role in "The Changeling," has been cast in a significant recurring role alongside Colin Farrell in the Max original series "The Penguin," produced by Warner Bros Television and DC Studios.

This eight-episode drama is a continuation of the Batman crime saga initiated by Matt Reeves in Warner Bros Pictures’ "The Batman" and focuses on the character portrayed by Farrell in the film. The female lead, Sofia Falcone, is played by Cristin Milioti. Details about Abrahamson’s character remain undisclosed at this time. Rhenzy Feliz also stars in the series.

Created from characters by Bob Kane with Bill Finger for DC, the show is executive produced by Reeves, Dylan Clark, Farrell, Lauren LeFranc (who also serves as showrunner), Craig Zobel (director of the first three episodes), and Bill Carraro. "The Penguin" is a production of Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Productions and Dylan Clark Productions, in association with Warner Bros Television, where Reeves and 6th & Idaho have an overall deal. Daniel Pipski from 6th & Idaho serves as an executive producer, with Rafi Crohn as co-executive producer.

Colin Farrell has officially signed on to star in and executive produce a series spinoff of “The Batman” in which he would again play The Penguin, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.

Has anyone heard anything recently? News around this series seems to have gone silent, and with what the idiots in charge after the merger have done, I'm concerned about it being cancelled before it starts.

The Batman: Warner Bros. and DC Comics are already planning to launch spin-offs from that universe, with one focused on Penguin and the other focusing on Arkham Asylum. Previously, there was a spin-off that was set to focus on the Gotham City Police Department with Joe Barton set to pen the script as well as Executive Produce the series. That series was ultimately shelved, and Matt Reeves and company moved on to other projects. During an interview with The Telegraph Joe Barton revealed that he was fired in January. While appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Matt Reeves revealed the plans for the canceled spin-off. Gotham PD was to act as a prequel to The Batman, taking place in "Year One" of Bruce Wayne's (Pattinson) crime-fighting crusade.
