Disney all but confirms that both Moon Knight and Hawkeye will not return for a second season as both have been officially labeled as limited series.
As reported by Variety, Marvel Studios is in the process of submitting its latest batch of Disney+ series for a variety of Emmy awards. Similar to WandaVision, both Hawkeye and Moon Knight have been submitted for the Limited Series category, suggesting that the shows will not continue into a Season 2. Contrastly, while Marvel Studios had initially intended to submit Loki into the same category, the plan was changed due to the confirmation that Tom Hiddleston's mischievous god will return in Season 2. Disney changes Hawkeye’s Emmy Award category from Outstanding Limited Series to Comedy Series, suggesting that a second season could be planned. Based on Disney's "For Your Consideration" website, Hawkeye is no longer filed under the Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series but rather the Outstanding Comedy Series category. While it's currently unknown why Disney changed the show's nomination, it's worth noting that in order for a series to be up for the Limited Series Emmy Award, it must "tell a complete, non-recurring story, and not have an ongoing storyline or main characters in subsequent seasons." The tweak has led some fans to believe that a second season of Hawkeye is now in development. Marvel Studios and Disney have yet to officially announce anything regarding the series' future.
