As someone who has served and no I wasnt SAS [smile] if shouting bothers you then working in hostile environments really isnt for you. I also think there have been enough series for potential entries to know exactly what they are getting themselves in to. ??‍♂️

I hear what Rosemary is saying, but this is combat training. This is about seeing if you can face up to this adversity. When shouting in the face is delivered with a good heart, it is very different than from someone without one and for me that defines the difference. However learning how to stand up to these forces is something that women inevitably have to do because the abuse of women by men is commonplace and if women are in the military, the forces you will go up against are not going to be nice. It is about resilience and many women are not resilient. This is not abuse of women. The women and men are treated the same I would take my time in the military any day of the week compared to some of the circumstances I have found myself in. It is all circumstantial. Bad people are bad people, and the worst of them don't just shout in your face.

The ads for the show really horrify me. I can see the folk having physical challenges etc, but is there any need for verbal abuse and shouting into the faces of the female contestants? It us shown as finding out what they are made of. To me is shows very bad modelling for our children as it portrays abuse of women, sanctioned by our society.
Thanks for the chance to comment.

Hi Rosemary. This is exactly how recruits are treated and spoken to. Worse if you’re female, older, or not Caucasian. [confused]

The shouting is a necessary part of military training. It is not done with malice but the idea is to add additional pressure in order to see how the recruits would react. Combat training at the SAS level is extremely difficult. This show portrays a watered down version of this for television purposes. Sure you can argue that since none of the recruits will actually go to join the SAS what is the point of verbally abusing them but since the point is to go through at least part of what the SAS expects in their training the contestants sign up knowing the risks that this will not be a walk in the park
