For her part, Hissrich says she completely understands the fan anger leveled at her and the rest of the show's creators. However, she also called on The Witcher's fanbase to continue supporting its cast and crew, adding that failure to do so would be to the detriment of upcoming spin-off Blood Origin and future seasons of The Witcher's main series.
"What I will say is please come back for The Witcher season three so that we can continue to do this. Obviously, that [Cavill's departure] is huge news. But what I don't want to do is – this has to stay about Blood Origin, Declan [de Barra, Blood Origin's showrunner], the cast, and the crew. This is their time in the spotlight."

In a most shocking announcement on October 29, 2022, Henry Cavill took to his Instagram to announce his departure from Netflix’s The Witcher. This will take effect from Season 4 and onwards as Season 3 has already been filmed.
No one could have seen this coming, but it may have some relation to his return as Superman in DCEU. And yes, this makes The Witcher Season 4 officially confirmed in a bittersweet way, but to be fair, an announcement like this is surely more bitter than sweet.

The third season of Netflix’s The Witcher is already deep in post-production after having wrapped earlier in September 2022. While the series is getting edited and the Michelle Yeoh-starring Blood Origin is getting ready for its release in December, the future doesn’t wait.
To do a quick recap, a month ago we reported that the team behind The Witcher had intentions to write and film The Witcher Season 4 and Season 5 back-to-back. We also mentioned that writing for those seasons should begin shortly. And indeed, we are now hearing that the script work for The Witcher Season 4 and 5 has just begun this October.

After a brief break caused by Henry Cavill testing positive for COVID, Netflix’s The Witcher is back in production since last Friday and has been continuing with its filming of the Thanedd coup, the series’ most ambitious sequence yet.
Although filming continued, Henry Cavill hasn’t been back to the set with the rest of the cast due to his ongoing recovery from COVID and therefore some of the filming schedule had to be rearranged taking his absence into account. As a result, the production this week focused on scenes that do not involve Geralt.
This led to a slight delay regarding the planned wrap date for The Witcher Season 3. For the last month, we’ve been hearing August 26 as the final filming date, but now it’s been pushed back to early September. (source: Redanian Intelligence)
Starving for “Witcher” content after nearly two years of pent-up antici pation, audiences went hard for the Henry Cavill-fronted adult fantasy drama series during Season 2’s opening weekend on Netflix. The title soared up Nielsen’s Top 10 SVOD ratings charts from Dec. 13-19, hitting 2.2 billion viewing minutes in its first week on the streamer. ( Source: Variety)
“The Witcher” Season 1 has 541 million viewers viewed in its first 28 days. Season 2 is already more than one-fifth of the way there.
If “The Witcher” showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich gets her way, the Netflix series will continue until they’ve finished adapting all of author Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. “I have always said that I want to end our stories at the same place that Andrzej Sapkowski ended his,” the executive producer and showrunner affirmed. “I just don’t feel the need for us to keep creating stories after his intentional end. The funny thing is, of course, since we have been working on the series, he’s actually released two new books. We’re trying to be a little flexible with it.” (source: The Wrap)
The streamer is set to release a 60-minute special of its new after show series, UNLOCKED, on YouTube and Facebook on December 20th that will feature interviews with the cast and showrunners as well as deleted scenes and details on how Season 2 leads into Season 3 and the upcoming prequel, The Witcher: Blood Origin.
The special THE WITCHER: UNLOCKED after show will specifically release on YouTube and Facebook on December 20th at 11AM ET/8AM PT. The after show will be hosted by Felicia Day. ( Source: Comicbook.com)
