Created by Si Rose, Marty Krofft and Sid Krofft back in the 1970s and adapted by Garrett Frawley and Brian Turner, streaming giant Amazon has now rebooted the old classic Sigmund and the Sea Monsters and released the the pilot on June 16th, 2017. The very first season kicked off on October 13th, 2017 with seven 22-minute long episodes. The live action children series hails from the production companies Amazon Studios and Sid & Marty Krofft Pictures and is executive produced by the Kroffts as well as Bradley Zweig and Stephen Engel. David Arquette stars as Captain Barnabus, as well as Solomon Stewart as Johnny, Kyle Breitkopf as Scotty and Rebecca Bloom as Robyn.
Most of us won’t remember the 1970s classic, where the two beach-loving brothers Johnny and Scotty find and befriend a young sea monster named Sigmund. The new and colorful Amazon adaptation adds two more characters into the mix – the surfing brother’s cousin Robyn and Captain Barnabus, who is hunting young sea monsters. Whilst the three kids teach Sigmund about the human world and actually have fun with him, they also help him as well as his dysfunctional brothers Slurp and Burp to hide from Captain Barnabus, who wants to capture these creatures.
